"We are not the only people to return to the island."
Well, gee dad. Thanks for that observation - I'm not completely retarded, thanks. She thought to herself bitterly. Of course they weren't the only ones. She'd been at the beach, and had even been the one to find Jack. But she didn't say anything, biting her tongue.
"Some things, Alexandra, you're simply better off not knowing."
Oh so now Richard was being a jerk to her too? Just great. She frowned. "I deserve to know some things, after you dragged me back here through that damned station, Richard." She said in a dark tone, gritting her teeth together. Alex refused to be treated like a little girl anymore. Frankly, she was sick and tired of being left in the dark, forced to sneek around and try to figure out just what the hell was going on.
And then they were talking about Juliet and Jack, and the things that Juliet had revealed to Juliet. "I'm glad she told him." She stated suddenly. "I'm glad she's with him too - she's alot better off with him than she ever was with you - you made her miserable." She said, staring at Ben as she walked behind them, her eyes on his back.
"*Quod si vos duos don't subsisto whispering sursum illic I'm iens converto quod vado tergum." Alex added after a moment.
((*"And if you two don't stop whispering up there I'm going to turn around and go back))

"He was quite the fool for a time."
"That, Richard, I do not dispute." Their march continued, the destination not known to everyone. Ben had faith that Benjamin would fill him in as soon as it needed to know. The Oceanic survivors had thought that Ben was the leader, and in some sense he was; but not without the intervention of Richard Alpert. Alpert's next comment caused Ben to exhale deeply, recollecting his thoughts that were prior disowned. "You tell me what I need to know, Richard, I don't need anything more." True. The more he knew, the more of a target he was, and by extension; so was Alex.
"I'm glad she's with him too - she's alot better off with him than she ever was with you - you made her miserable."
At a moments coherence, Ben didn't fully comprehend what Alex had said, but when it permeated his engaged mind, he stopped walking once again. "Alex." Ben paused, placing a forceful hand on Alex's shoulder, "Some things you will never understand, you take note, you are not significant to the island, you are it's pawn. Don't you see that? You don't need to know anything." His tone was bitter, "anything." he repeated, releasing her shoulder.
Ben rejoined Richard, discounting anything Alex had to say about Juliet. She knew nothing about their history, or even, her own. Richard's trivial antics regarding the island and love affairs played on Ben's mind, causing his beaten, dry lips to twitch into a smile. "I know." He looked over at Richard as they walked, "You don't need to remind me what happened to myself and Juliet. Danielle and Robert. Need I go on?"
"Quod si vos duos don't subsisto whispering sursum illic I'm iens converto quod vado tergum."
"*Quod sis redeo, ut vestri erroris, Alex, non mei." Ben didn't even turn to look at Alex, but recited his dharma courtesy latin back to her loneliness.
(*And if you want to go back, that's your error, Alex, not mine.)

She shrugged his hand off her shoulder, stepping back from him with a low growl, holding back the urge to tell him not to touch her. "I'm no one's pawn - not the Island, not yours. And I need to know everything. I'm not stupid, and I'm tired about being left in the dark." She muttered. "And how do you even know I'm not important to the Island? Hm? If I wasn't so important then why did Richard bring me back? Why didn't he just leave me in LA?"
Alex glared at his back when he spoke to her in Latin. He didn't even care she'd be attacked by the smoke monster or something? Well, if he didn't care, then neither did she....well, she did. Alex really didn't want shredded to pieces that particular day. "I wish you were dead." She whispered under her breath, folding her arms over her chest and digging her nails into her skin.
Sighing, she directed her attention to Richard, hoping he wouldn't just blatently ignore her like her 'father' was doing at the moment. "Richard, we should get back and help them find the others."

Suddenly, Richard felt like a father driving a car while he listened to his two young children bicker and argue in the back seat. He bit down on his tongue lightly, eyes glancing to the side before straight ahead as they continued to argue back and forth.
"Enough. Both of you."
His words were clipped and straight, shooting out of his mouth as he glanced back at both of them. "Don't wish anything you don't intend to keep later on, Alex." Richard told her. "And you." Richard looked at Ben. If he hadn't know any better, he would have believed that Alex was Ben's daughter. The two were so much alike that it was almost comical at times. However, at the moment, it wasn't comical. It was getting on his nerves. "This isn't helping matters, Benjamin." Richard turned his head to Alex, addressing her previous question. "You don't belong in Los Angeles, Alex. It was my mistake to bring you there and I'll be judged for it in the end, believe me, but don't think for a second that I'm taking anyone's side by saying that." he said, looking at both Ben and Alex. "No one's saying you're stupid, Alex. We're saying it to keep a bullet out of your head. Again. You don't trust your father? That's fine. You have valid reasons not to trust anything he says. But you have got to place your trust in someone to make it through this." Richard explained calmly, however, there was a seriousness to his voice that made it clear that he wanted the conversation to end. "We're all pawns, Alex. Even me. Some of us simply accept it and try to make the journey a little easier to take. It takes time, but it can be accomplished."
Richard continued walking, glancing at Ben. "I stepped far outside of my bounds to keep her alive, and it took a long time to get her at least calm enough to see reason. Please don't mess that up; the last thing you need is for her to run off." Alex spoke of the Survivors, and Richard nodded and then looked at Ben once more. "They're all going to meet up on the beach. It shouldn't be that hard to find all of them. They'll hopefully clump together. If not...well, that's their mistake. You should meet us there. Ford and the baby are on the beach, as well as the red-head from the Freighter and a number of the other survivors."
