Charlie felt his brows narrow in slight confusion as Lea said she was very pleased for him. She had just met him like, two seconds ago, and she was happy for him? "Thanks."
Lea asked what he did for a living, and he felt h imself chuckle. "Oh, I um...I was in a band. A couple years ago, that is, I was in a band. DriveShaft?" he asked, looking over at her, and then shook his head slightly. "But uh, we havn't been together for about three years. I had some shows earlier in the year but...nothing as of late." he said the last part slowly, almost sadly. "I'm in sort of, um...a transistion? I've been writing stuff for a solo album but, um...I don't know if it'll get the go ahead."
With all the bad press lately, Charlie wondered if he'd ever be able to cut a record again. But then again, if all the other drug addicted rock stars of the musical galexy could do it, why couldn't he?
"I've had some trouble lately. Just sorta...trying to get myself out of it."

She knew she shouldn't have said what she said, when she saw the look on his face. She had been talking to him like she knew him for a long time. But in her reality she had known him for a long time. This was so bloody difficult she realised. She didn't bother replying to him when he said thanks, she thought it better to let it rest for fear of causing more confusion.
Leah smiled at herself when he said he had been in a band, of course she already knew this and that it was Drive Shaft, but she couldn't let that on, could she? Instead saying the following "I knew you looked like a musician" and grinned.
She listened carefully as he spoke about having a tough time with writing for a solo career and she spoke softly to him. "I'm sure you'll get the inspiration from somewhere Charlie" she knew he could do it. Claire would have been his inspiration back on the Island she thought sadly.
"Want to talk about it?" she offered, although he probably wouldn't. "I mean I'd be happy to look at some of your solo lyrics or even hear it" she said in rather excited tones. It could be a way to reach out to the Charlie she once knew and adored, now even though he was still Charlie to her, she was a total stranger to him.

Charlie gave Lea a sideways glance as she said he knew he looked like a musician. "Really?" He asked, and then looked down at himself with a slight smirk. "What gave it away, then?" he asked with a smirk, before he nodded slightly, moving to scratch an itch on his forehead. "Yeah, I uh...I'm sure you've heard all about it if you've rerad the papers. 'Fore you all came along, Li said it was all over the papers." he shrugged slightly.
She asked if he'd written and that she'd love to hear it, and he nodded slightly. "Yeah, maybe." he told honestly. "I mean, I don't even know when I'll be able to get to a studio if any at the moment. I mean, I gotta finish--" he started, and then almost felt embarrised saying it. "I gotta finish rehab first." he said, his voice quieter.

Oh he had asked what gave it away that she knew he was a musician. Well apart from the fact she had always known he was a musician, his appearance gave it away. She couldn't say she had always known he was a musician, because the truth was, she hadn't picked up a newspaper since being rescued, because she didn't want to hear all about it. Being there at the time was bad enough.
She shrugged and smiled, "I dunno Charlie, you just look like a musician" she replied softly, taking every essence of him in. Her heart broke when he mentioned about having to finish rehab. For what she could remember back on the Island everything he had with Claire had taken him away from that path of self destruction. But she wasn't about to judge him, for a start to him she was nobody, and she would have had no right. But she wouldn't have judged him anyway, because it was Charlie.
"Well when ever you get a chance I'd sure love to hear it" she said softly, "And I hope you get over through the rehab" she said kindly and touched his arm with her hand. To him she had only just met him, and she had wanted to throw her arms around him in a hug and tell him everything would be okay, and she couldn't. She wanted to offer her support, but again she didn't think it would be welcome given the circumstances.

Charlie looked over at her with a half smile, although it was slightly sad as she spoke of rehab. "Yeah, I do, too." However, the simple fact that Liam was now visibly jonesing didn't fair well. However, Charlie knew that he needed to do it. He needed to stay clean...because there were people here, people in his life that needed him. Besides, he knew he'd feel horribly shitty if he fucked up again. But the simple action of her saying that she cared...well, it did matter, but he wondered silently if she was pitying him. He didn't need anymore pity.
"Yeah, I wont be in Los Angeles for long. I'm going back to Sydney probably in a couple of weeks, whenever I'm out of clinic. So if I do cut anything, it'll be down there."

She gave him a strong encouraging smile, "Well I know I've only just met you, but I think I can safely say I care, you'll get through this, and if you ever need to talk" she said, as she took a pen and paper out of her bag and scrawled her number down on it for him, "Then you only need to phone" she said with a soft smile.
He probably thought she was mad giving him her number like that, but she wanted him to know that regardless of whether they had only just met to him, regardless of how silly the situation seemed, she did care.
"You're going back to Sydney, you're lucky, I miss home" she said softly. It would have been good to go back there, just to see the sights, as long as she was able to stay away from her. "It sure would be great to hear some of your music" she said again in the hope it would give him more encouragement.

As Leandra handed her his number, Charlie felt an eyebrow arch in actual surprise. "Well, now." Charlie said after a moment, looking rom the paper to Lea's face. "I didn't have to do anything but stop you from passing out and I get your number. Smashing."
When Lea spoke of Sydney, Charlie felt himself shrug slightly. He didn't want to bad mouth Sydney, because she had said it was home, but he didn't feel like Sydney was his home. Hell, even Manchester would have felt odd, and he didn't know why. Manchester would have been a second choice to...to what? He didn't have anywhere else, why did he feel like he had some mystery place that he was missing, some life that he was missing out on?
"Yeah, well...I think I'll prolly have to go to Clinic there in Sydney, too. Li's got the hook up with hiss old doctor; he said he's already called." However, he wondered what his old doctor would say if he saw Liam was back on the drugs again. Charlie lett out a scoff, moving to rub his face. "Maybe it will be nice to go back to Sydney. Get away from this place. Away from...everything. Go somewhere in some little tiny town where no one knows who I am and start over."

She had to stifle a laugh when she saw the raised eyebrow arch on Charlie's face when she gave him her number. She knew that he would think it strange when as far as he was concerned they hardly knew each other. She couldn't help herself though. She just felt it was something she had to do. He took the number anyway.
"You may only have stopped me from passing out, but I just thought you could maybe might do with another friend, I know I certainly could" she said softly. She meant it to. Charlie had been one of the guys she felt she had bonded with back on the Island, and he didn't remember anything about it. It was quite sad.
Leah wasn't even sure why she spoke of Sydney quite so warmingly, yes it was her home and yes she missed it because it was home, but she had to admit she felt more at home in Los Angeles now, because she was with her father again. She wasn't even sure if she ever would go back again.
"Well I hope it goes well when you're there" she said kindly with a soft and kind warm smile. "Maybe you could give me your number too, and then I could call you from time to time, see how you're doing" she smiled. "After all, isn't that what friends do? Look out for each other?" she continued. She hoped she wasn't appearing desperate for friends, but she had such a bad time of it lately what with her unrequited crush on Sawyer and now the whole Miles trouble. Right now, she could simply do with a good friend.
She had Desmond too of course, but she often felt he was a little too close to it all. It would be good to get a friend who maybe wouldn't be so close to the situation. Desmond would tear Miles apart if he thought it would help. She came out of her thoughts to listen to what Charlie was saying.
"Maybe you're right" she began a little sadly, she'd hate to lose him after just finding him again, and it took her all her time not to say that to him, but she refrained, saying instead, "it will be good to start over for sure, but hey I only just got a new friend, kinda don't want to lose him already" she smiled at him.

"Yeah, I don't know if 'well' will classify how it will go," Charlie told her honestly. "But it'll go some way. Knowing the Pace family history, I've got alot of bad to go through before it gets better." Charlie brought a hand up, rubbing the back of his neck. "Look, I mean, honestly, it's swell that you've taken an interest. Completely kind and sorta flattering...but I'm a mess. You don't want to get into somethin' like that." Honestly, he thought silently. He was a right mess. His life was in total shambles, and he couldn't hold onto Libby 24-7 like he wished he could. He was having a midlife crisis before his midlife even began.
"I'll be lucky if everyone makes it out alive by the time we get to Sydney."

"I'm sorry" was all she could think of to say to him when he spoke of it not going well. She had wanted to give him support, but it would seem he didn't want it, or at least didn't want to put her through it. But shouldn't she be the judge of whether she wanted to help him through it or not? Then she had to nip herself and remember, that he didn't know her, even if she knew him.
Maybe it was time to just leave and let him carry on with what ever it was he was doing before his little stunt with the stone interrupted what he was doing before he had to apologize and before she acted like she'd seen a ghost.
"It was lovely to meet you Charlie" she said softly with a warm smile, and patting his arm re-assuringly with her hand, "But I suppose I really ought to let you get on with whatever it was you were doing?" she said kindly. "You've got my number, feel free to phone any time you want to talk" she continued.
