"Alex." She scowled at the use of her full first name. "And no, I know I haven't been eaten - yet - but I have been very close to being shot. And I don't particular want to go through that again." She stated, leaning against the wall of the elevator with a sigh.
"What if those people are still there, looking to kill us? What then?" She questioned, curious as to what Richard was going to say.

Glancing to the side as he heard her sharp tone say 'Alex' instead of the most obveious 'Alexandra', he looked up at the elevator numbers, watching as they went down, down, down. Her question, though, made him look from the numbers, to Alex's face. "Then we use what we already know against them." he said simply. "My people, however many are left, we'll form a stratagy. The thing that they don't seem to realise is that we've been there much, MUCH longer than they have. And sure, they have their little maps and charts and diagrams...but we have the knowledge of the Island. And if somehow, by SOME way, they have more people, which, I'll add right now, is highly improbable...we'll do what we have to, to survive. I've done it before, and I'm willing to do it again to ensure the safety of those on the Island, and of the Island itself."

Alex wondered briefly what resources were left on the island that hadn't already been destroyed or used up. She knew the Barracks were destroyed, obviously, so they'd have to start from scratch and rebuild or something. But Richard was probably right -as usual - they knew more about the island than the mercenaries.
"The Island can sink to the bottom of the ocean like Atlantis or something for all I care." Alex scowled slightly again, not looking at Richard. "Where the hell are we going anyway?"

"Mittelos."
Richard ignored her statements about the Island sinking to the bottom of the ocean. "Just because you're bitter at me right now doesn't mean you need to take it out on the Island. The Island was your home." he pointed out honestly. "At one point in your life, I remember you telling me you never wanted to leave."
And of course, that had been before the bombs and the invaiders and death. But the Island had always been home for Richard; a safe place. A place that he knew like the back of his hand.
Bringing himself back to the subject, he looked over at Alex. "I've forgotten some things at Mittelos. Besides, I figured I should take you for a follow-up, just to make sure you're adjusting well."

She frowned slightly at the name of the science facility Richard supposedly worked for, but nodded.
"I'm not taking it out on the Island." She mumbled. "And I said that when I was a little girl, not when there were freak people running around with bombs and explosives trying to kill us." She continued.
"And I'm fine." She stated when he mentioned a follow-up. Truth was, she never liked doctors, because they usually had needles in their hands.

"The Island will always be your home, Alex. And what good are all those years that you spent at your home if you're not willing to defend it?" Richard asked as the elevator stopped, doors opening. "If you're simply going to run away at the first sign of trouble, what does that say about the home you were once in? How you felt about the place?"
Richard stepped out and into the lobby, and moved with Alex towards the door. His car was waiting outside, a doorman standing near the open driver's side door, and another at the passengers side.
"Is this your daughter, Doctor?"
Richard placed a fake smile on his lips as he moved around to the driver's side. "Yes, Harold. This is my daughter, Alexandra."
"She's a beautiful girl, sir."
"Yes, she is." Richard said as he got in, waiting for Alex to get in as well. When she got in, the doors were shut, and Richard looked over at Alex. "Everything about this place, these people...it's a lie. We all have lines we say, smiles we place...but no one really ever knows exactly what's going on. You and I...we're visitors in this place, nothing more."

Alex scowled again. He kept making points that she either didn't want to, or know how, to defend herself against them. She just rolled her eyes like any typical teenager would. Then again, an typical teenager wouldn't be having a discussion with a relative about some island only a few people knew actually exsisted.
She followed him out of the elevator, placing a fake smile on her lips just as she had seen Richard do. She smiled at the doorman, even twiddling her fingers in a small wave at him before getting in the car.
"You mean like the survivors were to the island?" She questioned softly, reaching up to buckle her seatbelt, just in case Richard drove like her father had talked about - wether it was a joke or not, Alex wasn't taking any chances. "I like it here though. There isn't somehow I can stay here permanently, is there?"

As he put the car into drive, Richard listened to the words that Alex spoke. Partly, he did want to find a way for her to stay; it wasn't fair that she had to deal with all the pain and death and distruction on the Island. However, she didn't need to know that he was siding with her. So he lied; sure, there was ways that she could stay here, but it wouldn't be a perfect life. It was the same reason why he couldn't stay for long in Los Angeles or anywhere else for that matter; they just didn't belong. "You can't hide from the Island, Alex. I'm sorry."
Mittelos wasn't far from the apartments, and as he pulled up to the gate, a guard waved them through. He pulled up to the second building, and parked the car. "It'll only take a few moments."

"Yeah, I've kinda noticed." Alex muttered, folding her arms over she chest again as she let out a sigh, blowing the bangs from her face. She was acting a bit like a child - she knew it - but she didn't care. She didn't want to go back.
"Doesn't your few moments usually mean three or four hours?" She inquired with a smirk, hoping he didn't take it personally with his aging thing. "But never mind - I suppose I'll live."

Pulling the keys out of the ignition, Richard heard the statement she said about moments and hours. "Try a few decades." Richard said with a small smile. Exiting the car, he waited until Alex walked around to him. He lead the way to the door, and he reached into his pocket, pulling out a card. Swiping it, he entered, seeing a woman walking past. "Tell them to prepare the room."
Richard lead Alex to a small white room, and motioned for Alex to sit down. "I'm going to take your blood pressure and heart rate, alright?"
As a woman brought in a glass of orange juice, Richard nodded slightly to her. "Thank you." he moved, pulling a packet out of one of the drawers, and shaking it against his hand for a moment. He noticed Alex was still standing. "Please, sit down."

She snorted in laughter when he spoke of decades, and followed him around, silently following him through the door and into the room like she was supposed to. She wasn't feeling very cooperative, but she didn't honestly want to cause a scene in front of all these people.
"All right." She murmured when Richard said he was going to take her blood pressure or whatever. She was going to be fine, unless he chose to come after her with a needle. Then she'd probably run out of the room because of her phobia of the things.
She sat down, not noticing the packet in his hand. "So - how'd you get a job in a place like this since you're on the island all the time?"

As the woman that had brought the orange juice shuffled out, Richard opened the packet with his teeth, pouring the white powder into the orange juice. "Well, after the incident with the Dharma people, they left...resources to our advantage." He sturred the orange liquid, and turned back to her, holding out the glass. "I simply took what I needed at the time and used it to my advantage." He motioned his head slightly to the orange juice. "Drink it slowly."
The velcro on the blood pressure cuff made a loud rip as it came apart, and he wrapped the cuff around her arm. He pressed his fingers to her wrist as he glanced over at the clock on the wall.

Alex nodded, taking the glass. She took a sip of it, frowning as she realized it had some sort of bitter taste to it. Figuring it was probably just her tastebuds getting used to eating normal food, she continued to nurse the orange juice slowly, watching him wrap the cuff around her arm.
As he took her blood pressure, she suddenly felt as though she could use a good, long sleep. She frowned, downing the rest of the orange juice. Sh ehadn't exactly drank it slowly like Richard had said, but she was thirsty.
"Can we go back to your apartment when we get done here? I'm a bit tired...."

Why didn't anyone drink it slowly?!
As he recorded her blood pressure in his mind, he took the cuff off, watching as her movements slowed everso slightly. "Soon you'll be home and you can take as long of a nap as you want." Richard told her honestly. "I guess I should tell you now, along with that freshly squeezed California orange juice was a considerable amount of tranquilizer mixed in."
Richard saw her start to sway, and he moved, catching her arm. "Soon, you'll be home and everything will be back to normal. And I know you're going to hate me, but in time you'll understand. This is the way it has to be."

"Alllll rightttt." She slurred slightly, wanting nothing more than to curl up right there and sleep. Richard could carry her back to the apartment or something. She frowned slightly when he mentioned the tranquilizers. What? Wait.....what?
"Why?" She asked, stumbling over her words as the tranqulizers began to take more and more effect.
Wait...home.......
He was talking about the island.
But Alex was much to weary to fight back about it. All she had the strength to utter was, "Mkay."
