When the people were rescued and the island shifted, Ben teleported away to another location, far away from the island. So far away that the island itself was thrown 59 days into the past. For those who stayed on the island, they remember it all, but for those who magically reappeared because of the time jump, they only know what's happened for the last 42 days! Talk abut chaos!
Kate and many others were returned safely to civilization on Penny's boat, knowing all their friends who opted for the freighter are dead - or so they think. So while they grapple with returning to live in the real world as new celebrities, the islanders are grappling with more unknowns because they have no idea they have time traveled and they are finding themselves walking among the living who should be dead.
Who will be the one to figure it out? Will it be Daniel, the man with a mind who opted to stay on the island with his friends. Or perhaps the Others will clue in their new leader, John Locke, and he will somehow win over the other survivors to his side by filling them in on what's going on? Can the future really be changed?
