Short Personality description;
Feisty, Relentless, Domineering, Witty, Sarcastic, Passionate, Caring, Calculative, Laid back, are all but a few of the words that can describe Ana. In plain form, she is a firecracker, the type of woman that keeps you guessing what exactly is going on in her head. You can think she's going to do one thing, but she can turn around and surprise you. However, she is not the reckless sort, usually, she tends to know exactly what she's doing, she always has a reason for what she does.
Overbearing at times, she does tend to be bossy and often has a habit of telling people what to do. Although, she tries to avoid being so as it does tend to turn people off, and while she has no problem finishing a fight, she doesn't however like starting them if it's not necessary. However, she can also be rather kind to people she deems as friends. Naturally, she's a flirt at heart, passionate at what she does, and overly protective of loved ones. She doesn't like to show herself as vulnerable however, and does bolt and avoid being viewed as so. In all, she's a rather complex person.
Any Interesting History?;
Much of what a person sees of Ana-Lucia is due to how she was raised. The only daughter of Alberto and Teresa Cortez, who were both police officers at the time, Ana was also the youngest child out of four. Having it easy didn't happen much in the Cortez family, not when you had three older brothers that never gave you a moments peace, or even the other way around. Fights and roughhousing wasn't an uncommon sight at home and happened rather often then not. Though, when they weren't fighting, Ana could usually be found following after her brothers, always wanting to get in on whatever they were doing, whether it was sports, video games, or getting into any other trouble they could find. Naturally, she would grow to be a rather rebellious teen, her brothers influence no help to this.
At the age of sixteen, however, her father died in the line of duty after being shot. Family life became strained for a long time after, and probably still hadn't recovered fully even with the passing of years. It was a hard to blow to all, and Ana really never got over it. She had to grow up quick, and it is also partially the reason that she decided to pursue a career in criminal justice after high school, she wanted to make a difference, and maybe in part try to right the wrong of her father's death in a sense. This is also not to say that her mother approved of her daughter's profession, in fact she detested it highly, though the plea for her not to join the force never fully reached Ana's ears, she was too stubborn to listen.
A few more years down the road as she moved up from graduating the Academy and upping the Police ranks, it wouldn't be long before she would meet her long time boyfriend, Danny. Set up through friends, Ana was more then reluctant to go through with any date with any friend of her friends, some previous ones in the past leaving a bitter taste in her mouth. Yet, it would seemingly not be the case this time around as they hit it off rather well, too surprisingly well and went out a few months before they inadvertently moved in together. It would then seem that marriage wasn't too off agenda either, or starting a family for that matter, the talk becoming heavy dinner-side conversation for sometime. Even more so when she found out that she was pregnant.
News of the pregnancy brought them both joy and apprehension, especially considering Ana-Lucia's profession, it wasn't the job for an expecting mother. However, Ana didn't want to leave her job so suddenly they would be fretting about money related issues. So, in agreeance with each other they came to the decision that she would cut out her hours on patrol and move into a desk job in the LAPD until she would be able to go off on maternity leave. However, that wouldn't such the case.
On the last night of what she considered 'Active Duty', she received a call with her partner about a possible robbery. Upon arriving at the location, the two split up, Ana taking the front, and her partner taking the back. A man by the name of Jason McCormack would then emerge from the front, while Ana poised the gun at him. The man would then trick her into letting him reach for his 'Student ID' to prove he had nothing to do with that was going on, but really he was reaching for a gun that he used to shoot her. Four times she was shot in the chest with hollow-point bullets before she hit the pavement, pretty sure she was going to die as she blacked out.
The next thing she would know would be the hospital room that she woke up in a few days later. Though, she already knew what the doctors would tell her as she regained consciousness, she had miscarried from the impact and blood-loss. Depression hit her hard, as did guilt. It didn't help matters either that her attacker got away. The coming months that would follow would be hard with physical therapy and counseling after the incident. Not only that, but things between her and Danny became strained, as Ana-Lucia closed herself up after the loss of her child. There was only so much he could take of it after awhile, and when he was fed up he simply walked out on her. It was a low blow to her, almost crippling, but she thought better of it. She figured she was better off alone anyway, a belief that is still sticking to her.
As the counseling progressed on for a few more months, Ana thought that she was regaining her life back, or so she had hoped. As soon as she was deemed able to go back to duty, she jumped the chance. She was met with open arms from her fellow colleagues, and scorn from her mother, who was then Captain of the Los Angeles Police Department. It was more then obvious that her mother didn't want her back on the squad, and while she knew all to well the reasons why, she couldn't be convinced otherwise. Still, her mother tried to stop her from being able to patrol the streets and tried throwing her into a desk job. Ana wouldn't have it, however, and asked to be transferred elsewhere. Unwilling to transfer her, Teresa unwillingly gave in and changed her assignment to put her back in a car with her friend, "Big Mike", so he could keep his eye on her and make sure that he kept their patrolling easy.
No sooner then they were out did they hear a call on the radio regarding a domestic dispute, and despite Mike's protests, she called in to take it. They would come to find that the dispute was between a couple in the middle of a heated break-up, the boyfriend trying to take his television set out with him and the girlfriend carrying a baby out in her arms as they continued to scream and shout at each other. Afraid that it was going to get violent and scared for the child, and apparently not over the loss of her own, she way overreacted and unholstered her gun aiming, but not intending to shoot, at the man. She told him to drop to the ground and for the woman to go inside the house, causing the man drop the TV before lowering himself to the ground. All the while she had Mike yelling at her to put the weapon away.
Afterwards, they returned to the headquarters with Mike not talking to her the entire way back. Ana tried to justify her actions but she was stopped short when she was stopped by another officer who informed her that they had arrested the man that had shot her. She was brought into identify him, but out of anger, and partially fear, and claimed that it wasn't him, even though his prints matched the partial they found where he shot her and because he admitted to the crime. None-the-less, since she denied that it was him, they had to cut him lose.
A week later, after she tracked him down, she followed him a bar and waited for him to exit before followed him into the parking lot. Grabbing his attention she told him that she was pregnant before she shot him three times in the chest, and another three times after he hit the ground. Ana-Lucia finally enacted the revenge she so solemnly sought, however, it didn't bring her the peace of mind that she so desperately wanted.
The next day, the authorities would find the body, as well as the murder weapon that had no traces back to her. Her mother called her into the morgue to see the body, already knowing it had been Ana to be the one that did the murdered him in cold blood. Ana didn't deny it either, and while her mother wanted to help and support her, she refused handing in her badge and quitting the force.
For a little while after that she went and worked as an Airport Security Guard, her job being simply wanding people down. This was another opening for another man to walk into her life, Christian Shephard, though she never knew him by his actual name. After taking a break and heading to the bar for a drink, she bumped into his as he was on his way to Sydney, Australia. The two exchanged stories, Ana telling him that she got her job in security because she stopped being a cop, and Christian told her that he had just stopping being a doctor because he drank on the job and his son ratted him out. He then offers her a job as his 'bodyguard' of sorts because he needs protection. Reluctantly, Ana agrees and follows him on his little escapade, both giving each other fake names to refer to each other as, Christian becoming Tom, and Ana becoming Sarah.
Following her arrival in Sydney, for four straight days they didn't absolutely nothing but drink instead of what she was supposed to be doing, which was protecting him. Yet on the fifth, it would change. In the middle of the night Christian came over to her to seek her help finally, drunk. She followed the directions to a house where he demanded to see his daughter, but the woman, she figured was the girl's mother, wouldn't let him. When he started getting violent, she stopped him from going further. It would be the end of her trip to Australia after that.
Morning came shortly after they rode around the rest of the night. She stopped the car and tried to weasel information out of him regarding the woman he nearly assaulted, but he refused to tell her, not helping her mood in the slightest. After pointing out that she managed to park in front of a bar out of "Fate", he offered her to take one last drink with him before leaving, though she declined. However, she didn't want to leave him there, because it was more then apparent that there was no one endangering him, but himself. Trying to persuade him to come along with her and return to the states, he refused, then walking out of her life as he walked into the bar. This was all the little push she needed to go back home and confront her past.
After a few more days in Sydney, Ana managed to land herself on a flight back home. And as "Fate" would happen, she would meet another Shephard, this time Jack as he was trying to arrange for his late father to be flown back to be buried. Not realizing he was referring to the same person that she spent the previous couple of days with, she followed him to a bar, history repeating itself as they talked over a few drinks and even flirted a little. They exchanged seat numbers, promising to share another drink on the plane together after her phone rang with her mother on the line.
They both spoke for a few minutes, her mother wanting to know her whereabouts and Ana told her that she was in Sydney and then confessed that she was tired of running and wanted nothing more to come home. Taking down her flight number, Teresa promised that she would be waiting for her when she landed, unknowing of the events that would follow with the plane crash, and the trials and tibulations would occur.
However, sometime later on the island, she would be murdered by Michael. Everyone thought she was dead which was farther from the truth. Instead of six feet under on the island, she was back in Los Angeles. Even more, she has no memory of the island, what she went through. In fact, she remembers never getting on Flight 815, and instead, canceled her flight shortly after arriving to the airport to take an even earlier one.
Once back, she resumed her life, taking up her job of security at LAX after the crash, not really batting an eyelash over it other then being thankful she didn't take the flight. Though, 'wanding' wasn't exactly thrilling, she moved onto co-owning a bar with one of her friends, doing that for a little more 'excitement' in her life and also giving her a few more bucks in her pocket to live more comfortably.

Four Sample Paragraph AS that character;;
A soft sigh escaped Ana’s lips as she pulled the rope that held the frame of her tent together. Or not so together as it seemed. The one side’s wood frame was clearly broken in half. Which of course required fixing almost immediately. But that was probably going to be the easiest task of the day.
Disentangling the rope from the wood, the rest of the frame dropped to the floor where the tarp was already thrown on the sand.
“So you‘re sure in thinking that Charlie knows where the guns are?” Kate quietly asked her, standing all but two feet from her side. Having given up already with helping her, the brunette’s arms were crossed over her chest, watching the other woman work on fixing her tent. She didn’t need help with fixing it. She’d made that already very much clear.
“I don’t think. I know,” Ana replied just as hushed as Kate’s voice. Her eyes on their own accord looking toward, where Charlie was on the beach, sitting down and taking in the day’s sun. Grabbing the rope, she had then began rolling it up neatly, tearing her attention back to the matter at hand.
“But it doesn’t make sense. Why would he work with Sawyer, of all people?”
“Beats me. It’s not like everyone is beating down the door to work with that jackass and his plots. There’s probably something there, but whatever it is, I’m not sure I care,” she told her. The only real thing she had been caring about was getting the guns. That’s all she needed, and all she wanted.
“So...I’m just supposed to go over there and chat with him?” Kate inquired, making sure that she was getting Ana’s plan down pat, and not about to mess it up again. They couldn't afford to at that point.
“That’s that plan,” Ana confirmed off handedly, tossing her rope onto her blanket that served as her bed.
“What am I supposed to say?”
“Improvise. Ask about the damn weather if you have to, just don’t get caught in another net. I’m not cutting you down again.” Before Kate could answer, Ana moved away toward the tree-line, not giving Kate another moment to try and ask questions.
