Room Service. Daniel wasn't sure if he had ever had real room service, but since the Roosevelt looked like a upscale hotel, he figured it had to be good. However, he was sure that it was expensive. "No, I uh, I wasn't exactly looking on my way here, and I don't really know what's good in Los Angeles. So, um, yeah...the place you saw. That sounds good."
Daniel stood, smiling at her and realised once again that she had a nice smile. He hadn't seen much of it on the island since there wasn't anything really to smile about back there. However, he had seen it once or twice and it had been nice. He wondered silently if they hadn't been paired up on the freighter, would they have ever met? Daniel wasn't sure they would have. He would have been at Oxford and probably would have stayed there until he retired. Or found a way to make his machine truely work. He wondered silently if Oxford would take him back. He didn't much miss teaching; the students didn't care, didn't truely care about what he was saying, they had just wanted a passing grade.
"So um, are you going to be leaving Los Angeles any time soon? If, you know...if we can."

"Alright then." She said, standing. She stretched her arms for a moment, not wanting them to get stiff later. "I don't know what kind it was though; Chinese, American, Italian, I have no clue." She added as a fair warning. On the Freighter, there hadn't been much choice between food. You pretty much ate what they gave you that day, adn if you missed a meal, tough luck. Being back in civilization certainly had it's perks.
"Oh, I'm sure we probably can. But I don't feel like travelling much at the moment, after spending so many weeks on the dirty, enclosed, and disgusting Kahana." She replied. "But I'm sure I'll get motivated soon and fly back." Charlotte continued. She wasn't that keen on flying on an airplane either, after Flight 815, but it was pretty much the only way back to England, so she would be forced to buy a ticket sooner or later. She glanced at Dan. Spending time with him wasn't as bad as she had first thought it would be, when they had first boarded the Freighter. She was actually enjoying talking with him and spending time with him, even if it was limited.
"Do you plan on going back to teaching or working on your machine? Or do you plan on staying here?"

Anything sounded better than what was on the Freighter. However, the thought of Happy Flakes made Daniel miss the freighter for two seconds. But he reminded himself that he could buy cereal at the store. He found himself shrugging one shoulder as she said she didn't know what it was. "Anything sounds better than Freighter food."
As they walked, Daniel looked over as she asked whether he would go back to teaching. "I-I'd like to go back to teaching, yeah, but...um, I don't know if they'll let me back? So...yeah. I'm pretty sure they'll let me back. I mean, no one liked me really at Oxford but I was one of the best teachers they had, so...they kept me." He was sure he could go get his job back at Oxford, but would it really hold the same interest now that he knew that everything he had been doing, all the experiments he had conducted, that they were all true? That it WAS possible?
And yet, Daniel realised that he wasn't even sure if he'd ever be able to prove it...Widmore wouldn't want anything about the island leaked out to the general public... "Yeah, I think I may go back...eventually."

Charlotte laughed. "Of course, anything is better than that disgusting freighter food. That crap was getting old." She muttered, frowning slightly at the memory. The food had been rather nasty aboard the boat.
"I'm sure you were an amazing teacher, and if they don't let you back, it's their loss." She told him in a serious tone. She wished he could actually prove the people at Oxford wrong, that his experiments weren't nonsense, but no, that would involve revealing things about the island. Which was bad. It made the corners of her mouth twitch, as if she wanted to say something, but she remained silent on that part. She glanced over. He seemed to be having similiar thoughts by the look on his face, but she dismissed it quickly.
"I guess it'd be nice to go back," Charlotte murmured, tucking loose hair behind her ears. "But I'll be shipped off to the desert somewhere to do some work the moment I get home. I can bet you anything I will be."

Daniel felt himself smile slightly as he heard her say that he was a good teacher. "Yeah, I might have been an amazing teacher, but uh...they don't see it that way. I was a burden. Someone that--that was the brunt of jokes, you know," he said slowly, looking over at her. "I don't know if I want to go back." Perhaps he could go to MIT. Or Harvard. Somewhere on this side of the pond, Daniel thought silently until Charlotte spoke agian.
A slight frown hitched at his lips as she said she would be leaving. "Oh." he said, and felt himself looking at the ground. "That's, uh...well, I-I mean, you do that. Your job. So...so that's good. Yeah, that's good. I-I think I'll, um...stay in the states. There's-there's pleanty of colleges, prestegious colleges that I could easily get into."

"Well, like I said, it's their loss. And if they want to make jokes about you if you go back, they can deal with me." She stated, folding her arms across her chest and glancing at Dan. Charlotte meant it, and she would be happy to take care of anyone who made fun of Dan anymore, just like what she did when people made fun of her, or at least, when they used to.
She noticed his frown out of the corner of her eye, and could almost detect a hint of disappointment in his tone. It made her frown as well. "Don't worry. I never said I would go. If wanted to needed, I could get a job over here." She said. "And I bet places like Yale or Harvard or Princeton would love to have you as a teacher, and are probably a bit nicer than the idiots at Oxford."

"Oh, I-I wasn't---I wasn't implying that you should get a job over here, I just--" Daniel started, and then let out something of a laugh, shaking his head. "I just meant that, um...It'd be more...nice if I could see you...more often."
He must have sounded like an idiot. A babbling idiot that didn't know what he was saying. In fact, he knew that everything was floating around in his head, however it took a long time to sort it all out and form it into words. "N-Not that I couldn't see you more often if I took a job in Oxford a-and you took a job in Oxford or--or something, but...yeah." he finished with a sigh. "I think I'm gonna stay...here. I don't exactly like planes alot and I'm not looking forward to being in the same region as Widmore."

Charlotte laughed softly. "It's okay. I know what you mean." She said, smiling. "It would be nice to stay around each other." She continued. "Unless you get tired of me, which you probably will, eventually."
She smiled slightly as he talked. It was slightly funny as he babbled, and she couldn't help but grin. "I don't want you to take a job you don't like just so we can stay around each other. That'd be kinda suck-ish." Charlotte said. "And I'm not too fond of planes either, mainly after the whole Oceanic 815 thing." She added. She bristled and stiffened slightly as he mention Widmore. She really hated that guy. "If I ever see that man, I'll bloody kill him." She muttered darkly. "So being around him might not be good for me."

"I can safely and surely say that I could never get tired of you, Charlotte." Daniel said before he even realised what he had said. She spoke again, and Daniel almost laughed. He felt a smirk cross his face, and he looked over at Charlotte as she spoke. "Did you just say 'suck-ish'?" he asked, the smile spreading as he saw her reaction. His eyebrows raised slightly, and then he lowered then back to normal as he saw the place in the distance. He heard her mention that she'd kill Widmore, and partly, Daniel didn't hesitate to believe that fact. She had managed to hit Kate over the head hard before they had both gone to the Tempest, and she hadn't blinked an eye. The place Charlotte had spoken of, a Italian place called Bella, came into view and Daniel up to it's door.
"We're, uh...we're here." he said, moving to open the door for Charlotte. "And as well as you are with taking care of people," Daniel said surely, though disbelievingly, "I think Widmore has more people around him to guard him than he likes. And," Daniel said, following her as they entered. "I think we'll have to get in line." He told her, and then realised his words could be confusing. "Uh, Widmore. Widmore, not the food. Um, two. Two." he said, holding two fingers up to the hostess before looking over at Charlotte. "I hope you're in the mood for Italian."

Charlotte laughed. "Yeah, I said suck-ish. It was for lack of a better term." She added, smiling. She couldn't remember that last time she had actually used a word like that and it made her smile even more. She brushed hair from her face as the Italian place came into view. "Thanks." She said quietly as he let her pass into the restraunt before him.
"He probably has about a dozen guards, but they wouldn't be that big of a problem. Just lure them away with something, and knock out the rest. Then you get to Widmore, and he's even easier." Charlotte explained, slightly glad to be out of the warm air and in the cool restraunt. He talked about getting in line for Widmore, and she snorted. "Yeah, I suppose. A lot of people don't like him. Top of the list who most definatley be Benjamin Linus. I guess I'd be somewhere between ten and twenty." She said quietly as they followed the waitress to a table.

"Aw, don't count yourself short, Charlotte." Daniel said as they sat down. Daniel gladly took a sip of water, shaking his head slightly. "No, no, if I had a list, you wouldn't be between ten and twenty. You'd be, um...three." Daniel said, his lips spreading into a slight smirk. "That's saying with full respect, of course. At least, you know...he'd have his work cut out for him. Not--not that he'd actually--actually do the kills, but...but if he did, I'm sure he'd have a hard time with you." There was something in Daniel that told him that if he ever pissed Charlotte off enough, she'd find a way to break every bone in his body. Imaginatively.
"That being said, what happens if...if those ten to twenty people sorta...run out? What then? But then again, I think the survivors would be higher on his list. I mean, they're the ones that've seen everything. We've just studied it."

"Well, that's good then. Three's my lucky number." She grinned slightly. "And he'd most definatley have a hard time with me. You can't kill or get rid of me easily." Charlotte added quietly, the corner of her lips twitching slightly as she smirked. "But if you do kill me, then you have my ghost to worry about." She chuckled softly.
"Yeah, the survivors would be high up on the list, I suppose. And if those ten or twenty people run out, I bet there's a whole bunch more where they came from." She replied with a slight shrug. "And if we studied the island, how come we still don't know why it's such a freaky place?"

"You do realise that we were stuck with a GhostBuster, right?" Daniel asked with a slight smirk, before taking a drink of the water that they had placed down. He grimaced slightly, taking a lemon seed from his mouth before he pulled the wedge out, setting it on the napkin. Charlotte spoke, and Daniel listened intently, trying to place his answer.
"I don't think I want to know about the Island." Daniel said after a moment. "I-I mean, I do. It--It facinates me but...but I don't want to know about the Island. The moment I stepped--well, um, crashed on the Island I realised that it wasn't a place I wanted to be. I knew I had a job to do and I knew I needed to stay but, um...I didn't like it. It felt...bad." And yet, strangely, it feel familer.

"What makes you think Miles would want to talk to me when I'm dead? He barely speaks to me now." Charlotte stated, smirking. "And I'm not sure I would want to talk to him in the afterlife either. He makes me mad." She added, pulling her water toward her. She laughed at Daniel's face as she removed her own lemon wedge before taking a drink.
"I don't know. I'd like to know more." She said, resting her chin in her hand. "Maybe even go back ... eventually." She added. "I mean, there are things I still want to figure out about the place like that monster and the polar bears. Possibly the history of the island...."
