Running her hands back through her newly dyed hair, Libby blew out a loud puff of air as she scrutinized her reflection. She hadn’t done red for a while, and definitely not such a rich shade. It wasn’t bad. No, it was good. It made her look mysterious, fierce even. Hardly the look of a maid, and far from someone who was...
Yes, it looked good. Smiling at herself, she went a little more dramatic with the make-up today. Darker eyes, redder lips; Nancy would probably throw a fit when she saw her, but it didn’t matter because Libby was invisible. She moved about the hallways of the hotel getting barely a glance, slipping into empty rooms, the clean towels and bedding the only indication she was ever there. They were all too important to notice her, the guests that stayed at the Roosevelt. Probably best that way, but at least she could feel good about herself even if nobody else did.
Pulling on her uniform, the smile she had been wearing turned to a frown. Even the new look couldn’t make it look anything other than frumpy. No, she was still mysterious... maybe it was just a cover. Perhaps she was a spy, and this was her disguise. Yes, an international spy, and one of the guests was a diamond – no, weapons – smuggler and she would be helping people by portraying a maid to spy on him. Yes, that was who she was.
