Juliet walked quietly, a cup of Starbuck's carefully held in her hand. The air was cool this morning, but had not stopped Juliet from her morning walk through the park. This was where she came to clear her head, since her arrival back in the 'real' world. Leaving the island was supposed to have brought her peace of mind. And in many ways it did. Her sister and Julian had not thought twice about moving to LA to be with her. Juliet had a family again. She was no longer alone. Or was she?
After arriving in front of the media blitz, Juliet had quickly slipped off into oblivion. She had been quickly hired for her fertility research. It seemed that news of her sister's pregnancy had gotten out while she was gone. Juliet found several companies had been searching for her to no avail. Returned, she now was head of cutting research at St. Sebastian's. In a way, she was thankful. She knew that her research here would be productive. And she also knew that it would help her forget the island, him. Or so she had thought. Only, he was there. She had found out that this was Jack's hospital. So, she did her best to hide away. Juliet knew his schedule, and kept her own far from it.
It hurt to much, thinking of Jack. She had fallen deeply in love with him, but in the end pushed him away. Juliet had not been for certain, but she believed that Jack truly loved Kate more then he cared about Juliet. And she was tired of being the 'other' woman. It wasn't right. Besides, she was sure that Kate loved Jack, even as she loved Sawyer, too. And there was the Ben factor to accommodate. Even if they had taken Ben away, Juliet believed he still controlled her life to some extent. If he couldn't have her no one would, even in the 'real' world. And so she remained alone.
Looking up at the clear blue winter LA sky, Juliet pulled her lips back into a thin frown. It was the same sky they had on the island. She should have loved the bright blue of it's color. But, Juliet would have happily settled for a grey cast. Maybe, she should have taken the job in Seattle. It wouldn't have looked anything like the island.

The park had become something of a second home for Daniel. It was calm and quiet for the most part and even when it wasn't quiet, when the sound of children or cars peirced the stillness, Daniel didn't mind. However, when a group of children kicked a soccer ball too close to him, Daniel opted to move to stand and walk down the path. Silently he wondered what on earth he would do with his life now. He wasn't sure if he'd go back to Oxford, although if Charlotte went he'd consiter it. Or if he'd go to Harvard or Yale or Stanford...some place that appricated his work.
He looked up from his journal only to see Juliet walking down the path. Juliet. She hadn't been on the plane and sooner or later they'd question her if they found out. They'd be questioned and then the survivors would be questions and things would go very bad very quick. Because when they found out about the Island...things would go very, very bad.
"Juliet." Her name fell off his lips, watching as she turned to him. He held out his hands slightly, as if saying sorry that he startled her. "I'm sorry, I-I just...I saw you. Walking. How...how are you?" True, he hadn't really gotten a chance to speak with Juliet much except when she had been pointing a gun at him in the Tempest, however, he truely was interested in all of the people on the Island.

Hearing her name sounded so odd, strange. Her work kept her mostly secluded, alone. And the only ones who called her name were the interns that worked under her or her sister and nephew. She turned her elegant long neck so that she could see the source of the call. To Juliet's surprise, it was Faraday. Her lips pulled in a thin smile, watching him almost shake, his body stuttering along with his words in it's movements. She had certainly not expected to see this man. Daniel seemed to come from another world, another place. As if, the island was nothing but a dream. And now, Daniel was like the dream coming back, playing mind tricks. If only, she thought, it could have just been a dream.
Her blue eyes shifted away from him for a moment. Scanning as if she expected to see someone coming at her, namely a red head. Juliet looked back to Daniel, and her smile softened. He wasn't a bad person, just had gotten entangled in a dark web. She let her head tilt gently to the side, as her features relaxed and warmed to the sight of him, "No, it's okay." He hadn't needed to apologize really, although she was surprised, "I am doing alright, Daniel. How have you been?"

He hadn't been exactly the greatest, but Juliet didn't need to know that. She didn't need to know that he felt extremely worried that he would die any time soon, nor did she need to know that he worried for her, too. "Oh, me? I uh," Daniel started, and shrugged one shoulder slowly. "I've been...better?" he asked, and mentally smacked himself. He was supposed to LIE! So much for lying. "I-I mean, I've--Well, I had lunch with Charlotte yesterday. Which, you know...it was nice. But, um...the big giant possibility of...dying that's hanging over my head, following me everywhere I go? It doesn't exactly make me...cheery."
He pushed the thought from his mind. "But you! How about you? I heard you're, um...you're at Saint Sebastian's. That's...that's really good, I'm glad. Has, um...has anyone came to you and wondered, you know...who you are?"

Juliet watched as Daniel seemed the very self she had gotten to know upon the island. His words anxious, seeming unsure. And yet, the doctor knew there was a brilliant mind at work in all of that. He was a kind and good man, and meant well. He had not come to the island to kill or purposely give them the heartbreak of never leaving the island. In fact, he wanted them to be rescued it seemed, despite it all. A scientist, he had come to learn something from the island. And in the end, he had learned too much.
She followed his broken speech along, as best that she could. But, when he stumbled upon the thought of dying, it made Juliet a little nervous. She allowed him to continued, gently folding her arms beneath her breasts. The tall blonde smiled softly, nodding her head, "I am good. Doing very well, actually. But, no," she shook her head in answer to his question. "No one has come to ask me who I am. I almost feel like people are even afraid to ask, which...is probably a good thing. I have been left alone it seems."
"Daniel?" Juliet tilted her head questioningly, "Why do you feel like your going to die? As if something is holding death over your head?" Even as she asked the questions, Juliet worried that it had something to do with the island. And she would not like his answer.

As Juliet's head tilted, Daniel's eyebrow arched. She spoke, and Daniel wondered for a second if she was being serious. "You're being serious?" he asked her, surprised, however, he saw the worry on her face, etched slightly as she tried to hide it. "You all...weren't supposed to get off that Island. If we had to, we were only supposed to take 8 of you, but they weren't supposed to survive." Daniel felt a breath escape his lips in a sigh. "Widmore...he's still looking for Ben. And he'll be looking for us because we failed." And he'd be looking for Juliet. "You're hiding. That's good; I wouldn't want him to find you and your sister."
"He's going to be coming after you, since you knew Linus." Daniel told her, and then shook his head. "I hope that he can't find you. So it's good that you're...blending."

Blending? She had heard Ben mutter something about a Widmore. But, Juliet hadn't taken it seriously. Ben was often somewhere else inside his head, and it was hard to thread everything together to understand him. She knew however, that Miles had said they were there to find Ben. As things had progressed on the island, Juliet had begun to believe that that objective had changed. So much had happened, and they were soon off the island. Juliet had thought she was going to get to start over. But, now?
"My sister?" Now she was very concerned. If Daniel knew about Rachel, he probably knew about Julian. And that meant, that this Faraday knew about them both. They were the only family she had, and she couldn't lose them. She couldn't have Jack and love him, Juliet was struggling with just that. Her only console was having her sister and nephew back in her life. They were everything to Juliet. "Daniel, surely he's forgotten about us all. About Ben. I don't even talk to anyone anymore, much less Ben."

Daniel's eyebrows narrowed slowly as Juliet asked about her sister. "They gave us, um, dossiers on all that had been on the Island, and the people that crashed. I couldn't sleep usually on the Freighter so I read them. They said you had a sister and a Nephew. It--It said she had cancer and she had a baby. That's--that's really...nice."
She spoke of Ben, and Daniel shook his head slightly. "N-No, no, you see, he wants Ben. H-He wants him and he'll go through anyone to get to him. I-I mean, Keamy...Keamy killed a whole bunch of people and didn't think twice, so...you know, I'm...worried."
However, Daniel watched her for a moment. "You were on the Island for a long time. Are you--I mean, have you gotten used to...you know, the normal world?"

It all sounded so strange, so odd. Hadn't that been what they did to the suvivors of Flight 815? Ben had given those he trusted assignments, to know everything about certain survivors that he deemed important and useful to the island. She nodded her head slowly, her blue eyes trailing off. Now, she was on the other side. The only two members of her family on a list, known by someone who seemed to be an unknown enemy. Juliet bit against her bottom lip, fighting away the fearful feelings that pressed inside. She swallowed them back and took another quiet breath, before looking back to Daniel.
"I have tried to forget it all, Daniel. It's not easy, of course," she didn't want to admit to the nightmares, feeling like she was still there. Nor, did Juliet admit that someone from that island still had her heart. She'd given up on ever falling in love again. It hurt to much. She just wanted to keep her sister and nephew safe and close. But, Daniel's warning seemed to laugh at that safeness. "Daniel, you said this Widmore is looking for Ben. Doesn't he know where he is? He sounds like he has more power then any of us. I don't know anyone who would protect him."

"I-I don't um...they didn't put me in charge of knowing alot of things...like that." Daniel said honestly, and when she said she had tried to forget all o the things that had happened on the Island, Daniel held out a hand, eyes immediatly wishing forgiveness. "Oh--Oh I know! I know, I--yeah, I'd think it'd take some--some time to deal with. What with the polar bears and the smoke...things and the weird polarization, yeah, yeah I think that would take some time to get used to. I do." Daniel said, nodding surely. "I don't want you to think that," Daniel felt a nervous laugh cross his lips. "that I didn't think it'd take a while for you because--because I do." Daniel's brows narrowed slightly in thought. "I don't know how much power Widmore truely has. I've never met him. But...but they talk, you know. They all like to talk and--and if he could hire someone like Keamy a-and not think twice...yeah. I don't know how much power he has, but he's got me wondering."
