Miles let out a strained sigh. She just wasn't letting up. He ran his hands over his eyes. "I just don't see the point of attachments like that when we're just going to be dead a few years anyhow..."
He removed his hands from his eyes and looked at her again. He didn't know why no one else in the world understood the fickleness of life. All he had as solace was to suck everything he could out of it... and out of other people.
People thought they could block death out, not think about their own mortality. But mortality was all he was confronted about... all that he could think about. Attachments like actually caring was a waste of his time... of his mortality.

Leah felt like crying when she heard Miles' answer, it just seemed so sad. It was as if he didn't like to give life a chance because everybody inevitably dies. Well sure, after all you're dying from the minute you're born, but that didn't mean you weren't going to be around for a long time before you died.
"But I'm not going to die tomorrow" well actually how the hell did she know that, now that she thought about it. "Okay maybe I will" she started and then trailed off, she could understand exactly what he was talking about now.
She got off the seat and walked back over toward the bed, "But even guys like you deserve to be close to someone" she said softly as she put her hand on his arm. "And after all, we're all dying anyway, from the minute we're born" she finished with a sad smile on her face.

Guys like him?!! He didn't know if she meant his ability or what, but her comment was straight on the path to pissing him off again... real fast. It wasn't about what he deserved. It was about what he wanted. And a little peace and quiet was at the top of his list right about now.
Alright he thought, if she was going to get into this discussion... he'd may as well see it through. "You're right" he snapped, his head buzzing, "we're all dying from the minute we're born anyway so what the hell point is there being close to anyone?" That's what got him even more annoyed. That she didn't get how meaningless the whole thing was. She was fooled to think that life had meaning. That she could some how assume that having some closeness to someone actually meant that you were living your life for the better like she could judge that.
He let her touch his arm but gave her a hard look.

She'd only gone and pissed him off again. What was it with this guy she thought? He snapped at a moments notice. She still hadn't completely forgiven him for what he said the other night when he offered her money after sex, and earlier when he took her anyway when she had said no. Although in a way she did give in to him, she felt it would have been easier than causing a fuss.
But she was finding she couldn't put up with this anymore. He either liked her and spoke to her and treated her well, or he fucked off out of her life. The way he was acting tonight and the other night, he was going the right way about losing her completely. Not that it would bother him she realised, it was pretty obvious he didn't care.
"Alright, there's no need to snap at me" she shouted at him, she was getting fed up with him treating her like that. Even though he didn't flinch when she touched his arm, but he did give her a look of death. At least thats what it looked like to Leah.
"Look Miles, maybe it would be better if you just left" she said softly, because she was fed up with all of this, she couldn't take it anymore. She wanted to sleep, and she couldn't do it while he was here, and she couldn't leave Desmond at the lobby any longer.

"And I will leave. As soon as I sleep off this killer headache." He yawned and curled up. He didn't usually stick around when he didn't have to... but for the present he was quite comfortable and wasn't too keen on leaving.
He closed his eyes again and thought of the island. He hated L.A. The people. The noises of the city below. He just wanted to be back away from this place. Somewhere with a little solitude. "Speak to you in the morning." He said with false cheeriness and let himself drift off.

Leah didn't even reply to him when he spoke about sleeping before he left. It was fantastic wasn't it? He has sex with her, refuses to get close, snaps when she asks why, and then contiues to stay and sleep in her bed anyway?
She didn't even bother to reply to him, she just let him drift off to sleep, and as soon as she was certain he was sound asleep she'd make her way down to the lobby to speak to Desmond, to see if she couldn't get over this once and for all.
[ooc: think this is finished as far as Leah/Miles goes, not sure if Des wants to continue or just kill it too]
