When Leah left The Stone Pony after the way Miles had treated her she was extremely upset. She might not have shown it to him, but she was in tears the whole way back to the hotel she was staying in. She sat down on her bed and the only person she could think of to call considering her father wasn't well enough to be bothered with such things was Desmond.
Desmond had become like a brother to her after their time on the Island. When he had tended to a wound on her arm, they just bonded pretty much immediately, and they were close from that moment on. She was confused as hell. She's a woman desperate for love, but doesn't seem to be getting it from anybody anywhere.
Having her unrequited crush on Sawyer didn't help matters either, and now Miles. He was just treating her like a common whore. Offering money for their time together had disgusted her, and now she just felt like she needed someone to talk to. She couldn't even tell Charlotte the full story about what he had done to her, because she knew that they worked together in a team, besides just thinking about it upset her enough without talking to Charlotte. Maybe one day she'd be able to confide in her with what happened, but right now Charlotte wasn't the person to confide in, it was Desmond.
She picked up her cell phone in a complete state, desperate to keep the tears away, but it was no use, because she knew the minute Desmond answered the call, she'd break down anyway. There had been no hesitation in his voice and he had agreed to come over to see her right away, and now she was just sitting waiting for him to arrive.

After Desmond received a call from his really close friend, Leah, he knew she needed somebody to comfort her. Obviously he didn't know the whole story yet, and when she started sobbing on the phone, it just made it more difficult to understand what had happened. But he didn't have any plans and he really wanted to help his friend, so he hurried over to the hotel to search for Leandra. She had sounded very upset on the phone, and he was a bit worried about her. The only thing he knew was that someone had been very rude to her, and it happened to be someone she had liked.
Desmond walked to the front desk to ask what room Leah was staying in, and the clerk pointed in the direction she was. He walked up the stairs, and searched for the correct room number. When he found it, he knocked on the door. He could hear Leah crying a bit through the door. He heard her footsteps coming to the door, and then it opened. Desmond said hello and walked inside. He didn't fail to notice the numerous tissues on the bed, and even some on the floor. He began picking them up as he started talking to Leah. "So. Start from the beginning. What happened?" He said it in a soft, gentle tone, just like a sibling would talk to the other. He smiled, letting her know that she had his full attention.

Leah was so happy when Desmond arrived, she wasn't even sure where to start or what to tell him. How much should she tell him. What would he even think of her if she was to tell him the whole truth. Would it make him change his mind how he looked at her, thought about her. But she decided that they were close enough for her to tell the truth.
When she opened the door and saw him standing there, she virtually crumbled, she threw her arms around him in a hug. "Oh Desmond" she began, "I don't even know what I've done" she was a little bit hysterical, but she knew if Desmond was to understand what happened, she'd have to calm down enough to make herself audible.
So. Start from the beginning. What happened?...Taking in some deep breaths before she began, so she would be clear enough, and he would understand her properly.
"It all began the night before" she started, "I know you're probably going to think this is crazy" she continued, in a worried voice, because she was certain Desmond didn't even like Miles Straume. "I took some sort of physical attraction to Miles Straume" she began, looking to see if there was any sign of horror upon his face. "You know it's been a long time since I've been in a relationship, and this unrequited crush on Sawyer, and well he showed me a bit of interest and I took it" she rambled in soft tones, sniffing every so often as the tears continued to threaten to fall again.
"I actually thought he might have liked me, but..but..." she could hardly even say it. "But he offered me money before he left, I slapped him and pushed him out the door, but I can't believe he did that. Then what happened earlier this evening too, it's all just a mess and I'm scared and confused" she finished in tears once more.
"What must you think of me?" she asked in soft tones.

Miles Straume. The name lingered in the air, and Desmond had a certain distaste toward it. His expression was somewhat of disgust when he realized the meaning behind Leah's words. Miles had apparently been playing as some male prostitute. Either that, or he had claimed Leandra to be one. Filled with anger, Desmond nearly overreacted to Leah's words, but stopped himself in the midst of his reply. He calmed himself, and then spoke in a more pleasant manor. He wasn't mad at Leandra. No, he blamed Miles for this. "Miles. That man is never up to any good, Leah. He trusts nobody, just as I don't trsut him. I wouldn't take any further interest into him, if I were you Leah. Anywhere he gets you its never good."
Desmond continued giving Leandra bits of advice, and watched as she nodded her head. He didn't want to make her feel guilty about what happened, because it definitely wasn't her fault. Miles had taken advantage of someone that truly liked him and one of the few people that ever trusted him. Maybe that's why he was rude to her and didn't understand. Could it be that he was afraid to have a relationship with someone, or to have someone actually believe in him? And being the cold person Miles is, he must've made some cruel remark that you should never say to a woman. The thought that he actually tried giving her a tip after having sex was infuriating. Desmond looked up at Leandra, who was still pretty upset and letting a few tears escape her eyes. He knew he was being a bit protective of her, but the whole thing with Miles just agitated him worse than it would with any other guy.

Leandra was in a complete state over everything. She knew Desmond wouldn't be too happy about it all. Because she knew he didn't trust Miles and after what had happened to her, she wasn't even sure she could completely trust him herself either. But right now, she was just glad that Desmond was with her, and listening to her. She took in what he was telling her. She knew Desmond would have the best advice. But then what he was telling her was what she should have already known, if she hadn't been so silly to get herself involved with Miles in the first place.
Miles. That man is never up to any good, Leah. He trusts nobody, just as I don't trust him. I wouldn't take any further interest into him, if I were you Leah. Anywhere he gets you its never good....She listened to him carefully and what he was saying made perfect sense. But she was still so confused about everything, her mind wasn't thinking straight. Then there was what happened in the Stone Pony earlier also.
"Earlier this evening I was in the Stone Pony for a drink, and he was there too. He was waiting for Charlotte. Charlotte is tough, but she's nice to me" she started with a small smile, tears still welling in her eyes. "I tried to act all tough and show that I didn't care what happened the night before, but then he grabbed me by the arm and started saying all these horrible things to me. He also shouted about how I had paid gratitude to them for getting us off the Island with sex in front of everybody" she continued and then started sobbing again. "It was...it was...so degrading" she finished.
It would seem that Leah was a lot softer than she had realised herself, because now that Desmond was here and listening to her she was in a complete state.

Hearing that Miles publicly embarassed Leah made Desmond even more angry. Miles was a typical guy, except worse. After using Leandra for sex, he decides to announce it to everyone, just because he doesn't believe that she truly liked and trusted him. She was honest with him, but he couldn't accept the fact that someone finally did. Desmond pushed back his long, muffled hair and let out a deep breath. He felt much sympathy for his friend. He deceived her, and she fell for it. But aside from that, he had to go and make matters worse.
"It'll be alright Leah. Look on the bright side, half of those people that heard him shout out about your personal life you won't ever see again. I know that it must be humiliating, but all I can tell you is to not stoop to his level." Desmond smiled, giving Leah a hug. He thought about what he had told her a few minutes ago. About how she should not stay involved with Miles. He sat up straight on the bed, and then said, "Leah, I have a question for you. Do you really like this guy? Because I was thinking about what I told you earlier. But, if you really do have feelings for him, I'd say to not give up. But only if you really want to be with him." He didn't want to give her the wrong idea. He couldn't just tell her not to be with him for his own selfish reasons about not liking the man, but he realized it wasn't about him.

Leah watched on as Desmond seemed to mull things over in his head. Obviously what she was telling him was having an effect on him, but what effect she couldn't tell. But at least he wasn't disgusted with her, or shouted at her for being stupid or anything like that. And it's why she knew she could turn to him in the first place. She knew he wouldn't judge her.
It'll be alright Leah. Look on the bright side, half of those people that heard him shout out about your personal life you won't ever see again. I know that it must be humiliating, but all I can tell you is to not stoop to his level....She knew he was right. And yes it was humiliating, but she would get over it, she knew that. How long it would take her to get over, she didn't really know. "I guess you're right" she said in reply and gave a small laugh. It wasn't as if she knew everybody at the bar, it had been her first time there as well, and only Miles and Charlotte were there whom she knew.
When he smiled and hugged her, she nuzzled into him in a sisterly way, she always loved his hugs. He just had this protective manner about him and she adored him for it. Sometimes she didn't know what she would do with out him. But his next words confused her a little. Well maybe not confused, but she didn't really know how to answer, because she really wasn't sure what the answer was.
Leah, I have a question for you. Do you really like this guy? Because I was thinking about what I told you earlier. But, if you really do have feelings for him, I'd say to not give up. But only if you really want to be with him....She uncurled herself from nuzzling into Desmond's hug and threw her hands up into the air in exasperation, "That's just it, I don't know. I don't bloody know Desmond" then she started to laugh, not because it was funny, because it was stupid.
She sat and thought some more before speaking again. "I don't know Desmond, I don't know how I really feel. I'm not even sure I do trust him, but I never lied to him, and he thought I had. I was honest with him when I said I liked him. Because I did, or thought I did. But maybe in a way it's only to cover the feelings I really have for someone I know I can never have" she tried to explain, rambling away.
She knew how to get herself into a right mess didn't she? She can't have Sawyer, and she only likes Miles to try and cover up her feelings for a man she can't have. How much more mixed up could you get than that? "I think I need a man who can really love me for me and whom I can love back" she said softly, "And I don't think Miles is that person, but I don't like being lonely" she finished sadly. Now Desmond probably would think she was awful. She started to cry again.

Hearing that Leandra wasn't sure of her feelings for Miles made it even harder for Desmond to think of something to say. He wanted to give the best advice he could to her, and didn't want to disappoint her with something stupid. For what felt like a few minutes they each sat in silence. Desmond wasn't always the best person with words, but Leandra seemed to think so. He didn't know why, but he was happy to know that she liked to go to him for comfort. But, he always enjoyed helping her through difficult situations, mainly because she was very easy to talk to and usually accepted what he told her. He also liked that fact that they always understood each other, much like he and his girlfriend Penny.
Finally, Desmond broke the silence. His face was somewhat unsure, but he decided to say what he wanted anyways. "Well, maybe not now. But fate seems to find a way back to people, even though it may seem to be gone. Perhaps one day your heart will lead you back to him. And maybe..maybe he will learn to trust you, like you trust him." Desmond looked at the clock. It was getting late. He stood up and walked over to the main desk at the front entrance of the room. There lay a glass of wine, and a few glasses. He picked two of them up and poured some wine.
"Here," he stated plainly, with a hint of generosity in his tone. "Maybe this will make you feel better. A nice drink always helps me when I need to clear my mind." He smiled, and watched as she wiped her tears and grabbed the glass from his hand. She started to drink it, but Desmond stopped her before she did. "Wait. A toast, to...always being their for one another. And to good friendship." He gave Leah a warm smile again and then began to drink his wine. The wine was bitter, very strong just as he liked it. It wasn't cold, seeing as it had been lying out on the desk, but the warmness of the drink felt good as it went down his throat.
Desmond drank the last bit of his wine. He walked back over to the desk and sat down the bottle and his glass. He turned to Leah, hoping she was enjoying the drink as much as he had. He sat back down next to her, watching as she continued to sip on her drink. He hugged her once more, and said, "Don't worry, Leah. It'll be alright." His voice contained a nice, softness to it, and although he wouldn't admit it, Desmond was impressed with the last statement. He laughed to himself, thinking it was probably the smartest thing he'd said so far.

Her words about not being sure were obviously playing around in Desmond's head, as he didn't say anything for a long time, and they both sat in silence. She knew he would be trying to think of the best thing to say to her so as not to hurt her feelings. It didn't matter what he said though, because her mind was almost made up anyway. She didn't want to be used, no matter how much she missed the male attention, she would not let Miles use her like he did before. She was better than that.
"It's no use Desmond" she began softly, not as upset as before however, because she was starting to realise what was for the best. "Miles will never think good of me now, as far as he's concerned I just jumped into bed with him the minute I met him" she continued a little sadly, "And he's right, I did, he'll never respect me, and I'm better than that" she said a little happier, getting more sure of herself. "My heart has been bruised by Sawyer and double bruised by Miles" she carried on. "In fact after what happened, what he did, I think I can realise why so many people do hate him" she finished with a sure voice and probably the biggest smile Desmond had seen on her since he arrived earlier that evening.
She watched as Desmond went and filled two glasses with some wine from the mini bar, and she smiled thankful for it. She needed it after what she had just poured out to Desmond. She took the glass from him and sipped it, savouring its flavour. "Thanks" she said simply and then smiled as he toasted their friendship. "Definitely, I will always be here for you, my 'brother' in my heart forever" she said with a glowing smile now that her tears were finally gone.
She smiled as he hugged her again, and again she hugged him back just as warmly. "I know it will be" she said with a smile, "It's always all right when you're around" she finished.
Then there was a knock on the door. Leah looked startled as she turned to Desmond. "Wonder who that could be?" she asked in slight worried tones.

Miles stood at the door, resting his hands on the doorway. It had been close to ten beers and eight White Russians later that he finally decided to go and visit no name again. Leandra he thought, Charlotte had gone and spoiled it for her by telling him her name. It was easier just to think that she didn't have a name.
He knocked a few times and waited impatiently. He wanted forget about the game for now. He wanted forget about the outcome. He wanted to forget about Charlotte.
When Leandra opened the door, Miles moved forward, attaching his mouth to hers and forcing her towards him, he stumbled in still holding her against her will and took off his jacket, eyes on her. Last time he saw her, she slapped him. The thought of paying her back for that was still making him hot, as it had back in the bar. He edged his t-shirt up ready to take it off, when he noticed a man sitting on the bed.
Miles stopped. He looked from the man to Leandra and stumbled back. "Oh no. I am not getting involved in any happy little threesomes or whatever you brothel people do." His face paling.

As the door knocking continued, Leandra continued to get more and more worried and kept looking from the door to Desmond, wondering what she should do. But she guessed she had to open it because otherwise whoever it was would start to upset the rest of the people staying there.
"Sorry Desmond" she said quietly, "I better just answer that" she continued with a small smile. With the continued knocking, she wouldn't be surprised if it were Miles coming to get her after their earlier altercation.
On opening the door she saw it was Miles as she thought it would be, but she couldn't say anything for his lips were attached to hers immediately. She was blanching, and tried to fight him off, but he was pushing her toward him. She couldn't deny there was a definite tingle going on, but she wasn't going to give in to it. He took his jacket off and tried to get his shirt off, then he stopped. Finally he'd noticed Desmond sitting there. Thank god she thought to herself.
When he spoke, Leah immediately got very angry. How dare he say that. It was her mother who had the brothel, Leah had never taken anything to do with it, other than the accounts, and that was only because her mother blackmailed her into it. She screamed at him. "How dare you, you callous bastard" she moved away from him and back to the bed to sit beside Desmond. "Desmond is like my brother, and you know fine well he has Penny" she snapped at him.
She leaned into Desmond's ear and whispered so that only he would hear.... "Make him go away, he's scaring me, I don't want to be near him again" she pleaded as the tears started to fall again. She knew Desmond would do everything to protect her.

Soon after he had sat back down with Leandra, a smile came across her face. He was about to mention it to her, happy to see her in a better mood, when a loud knock on the door was heard. It was very strange. Why would anyone come up to the hotel room? How did they know where he and Leah were at? For a moment, Desmond's eyes narrowed. He began to assume that it was a maid or something. The mysterious person knocked again, even louder this time. The knocking sounded as if they were trying to break the door down. A bit worried, Desmond stood up to go for the door. But Leah had beat him to it. He could tell by the look on her face that she was a bit worried herself. Desmond searched through his head to think of possible people who would be here, but not even Miles seemed to be a reasonable guess.
Leah opened the door, and within a blink, Desmond opened his eyes to find Miles attaching his lips to hers. Desmond was shocked, but he stood up immediately, nearly about to rush over to stop him. But Miles realized he was there, and quickly backed off of her just before he'd began throwing his shirt onto the floor. His eyes, outraged and blazing, shifted back and forth between Desmond and Leandra. Desmond stood bluntly, and Miles began talking. All Desmond could think to do was glare at him, and hopefully pierce him with their sharpness. The words that came of the man were of course cruel, but Desmond stood unaffected by his stupidity. By the looks of it, Miles was drunk, and he watched and the guy stumbled around as he tried walking. Leah had already reacted to his words, and then came back next to Desmond.
She whispered into his ears, but Desmond was one step ahead of her. He began to walk forward slowly, still looking at the man with inflaming glares. Miles had already used Leah, and now he'd come back to finish what he'd started. But Desmond wasn't going to let it happen. He was nearly an inch in front of the man's face when he said, "Leave." Although he said this strongly and with a stern voice, he knew this would be useless. Miles wouldn't give up this easily. Desmond had come to realize that the pathetic guy didn't take orders from anyone besides himself. But Desmond didn't plan to give up, either. He'd terrified Leah by nearly attacking her with his lips.
Miles still stood at the door, and Desmond repeated himself. "Did you not hear me, brother? I said, leave. Use your bloody legs and walk out the door." His eyes were narrowed, gleaming from the light in the room. He stepped back, glancing back at Leah to check if she was alright. The look on her face made Desmond want to give Miles a fist in the cheek. But his restrained himself, knowing that it would just frighten Leah even more if they caused a fight. Miles stood motionless, as did Desmond, both glaring into the other one's eyes. [/size][/blockquote]

As they glared at one another in a face off, Miles snorted as Desmond told him to leave... twice. "Hey, what's your problem man?" Miles asked and pushed passed him, making his way over to where Leandra's mini bar was, and opening a bottle of vodka that he just swiped from it.
"We can all be friends" he laughed at the word 'friends'. He went and lay down on the bed, kicking off his shoes and getting comfortable. Miles could wait until Desmond was ready to leave. Unless he wanted to watch of course, and Miles was pretty much drunk enough just to let that happen. It was Desmond's own fault, for being there when he was unwanted.

After Leah snapped at Miles and went back to be beside Desmond and whispered into his ear to get rid of Miles, she could only watch the scene which was unfolding in front of her. Hardly any words were spoken. She knew Desmond wouldn't let Miles hurt her, so she wasn't worried about that. But he didn't seem to be reacting to Desmond at all, and that was annoying her.
Instead of leaving like Desmond suggested, he just went and got himself a drink from the mini bar. Leandra was disgusted with him. She could feel her blood boil. Leah wasn't always the type to get angry, but something about Miles really pissed her off she began to notice. How could she ever have tried to like him.
She had to laugh when Miles said they could all be friends. "I don't think we can all be friends at all" she spat in anger at him as she watched how he made himself comfortable on her bed. She wasn't having this. "Who said you could make yourself comfortable there?" she snapped at him.
Standing beside Desmond, actually almost hiding behind him a little, because even though she was snapping at Miles, she was in a way, quite intimidated by him and a little scared. She had made her mind up earlier not to have anything else to do with him. And now he was here. She whispered into Desmond's ear again, "Please make him go, I don't feel comfortable around him anymore" she said through her tears. Just when she thought they were over, they had started up again. Miles was the only guy she knew who could reduce her to tears within seconds.

After hearing Leandra whisper to him again, Desmond tried once more to get the man to leave. "Look. I don't know who you think you are, but just leave Leah alone! Whatever it is you want, she doesn't want to be part of it, alright?" He was nearly shouting now, but kept his temper cool. He wouldn't have an outrage and scare Leandra to death. He snatched the wine bottle from Miles' hands, continuing with what he was saying. "Are you even listening to me, brotha'? You really are pathetic..."
At this point Desmond had no sympathy for what Miles was doing. He just pitied the man. In his mind, the man was worthless, and by the looks of it, Miles knew it himself. Desmond didn't understand people like him, who pity theirselves, and care about no one. Afraid of what Miles might attempt to do, Desmond walked back, further across the room. He lay the bottle down on the TV stand, hoping that Miles wouldn't use it against them somehow. The man was selfless, and Desmond was afraid of the actions Miles might make.
[Meh, sorry its short. Couldn't think of anything.]
