"Doctor Alpert, she's moving..."
Inept people. That was the only way Richard could describe them, and if he had the ability to fire all of them, he would in an insitant. Richard looked over as a woman knocked lightly on the door, and he set the papers he had been reading down. "You didn't touch her, did you?"
"Doctor, she--"
"I told you not to TOUCH her."
Richard stood up quickly, moving to the room near the large office he had been sitting in. He pushed open the door, glaring at the woman that stood around Alex's bed. "Get away from her. I told none of you to touch her until *I* was here. Please tell me you remembered to keep quiet about the fact that she's with us?"
"Yes, sir..."
Richard let out a slight sigh, and moved to Alex's beside, pressing one hand against her shoulder to keep her down, and the over to reach into his white labcoat, pulling out a penlight. "Alex?" he asked, lifting an eyelid to shine the light into her eyes. "It's alright. It's alright, she's fine." Richard said, almost breathing a sigh of relief before he looked down at the girl. "Alex? It's Richard. It's really important that you open your eyes and look at me, can you do that?" he asked, moving to wipe a trail of blood from her nose. She was moving, that was a plus, but otherwise, Richard knew he wasn't out of the woods yet. "C'mon, open up."
He glanced back at the nurses who were still standing, and Richard frowned deeply. "Didn't I tell you to leave?" he asked, and then looked back at Alex, smiling slightly as her eyes opened slowly. "It's okay, look at me. It's Richard, you're okay now."

Voices…Noises. Alex could hear them. It was all a blur at first, but they grew more and more distinct as time seemed to tick by very slowly, and she was starting to regain some kind of consciousness when she was able to figure out at least half the words that were spoken to her. However, she was unable to react, and much less capable to move and to prove the voices that she was a living being, so that they would stop to talk about her like a meaningless immobile and unconscious doll.
Her legs and her arms were itching, but not entirely, like bits of herself remained inexistent. She couldn't entirely feel her own body just yet, and she seemed so concentrated on doing that, that she forgot to breath. The teenager felt hazy, and tried to open her eyes, but unsuccessfully, when a deep breath came rushing trough her parted lips. She coughed at the sudden amount of air filling up her lungs and she could feel some sort of commotion going on around her. People were walking out of the room and other were getting in. But where was she, already? She had no idea, and no kind of immediate memories came to her about how and when she ended up laying on her back, feeling so numb and in pain, all at the same time.
Her eyes remained closed and she moaned when a hand on her shoulder ruined her attempt to stand up. Her eye was forced open, and the next thing she witnessed was a bright light and when it disappeared, it was numbness and darkness again. A voice could be heard, closer and deeper and much more familiar than the ones she had been hearing during the last seconds, or maybe hours... The voice demanded that she opened her eyes, and they somehow managed to obey him much more successfully than they obeyed her own commands, seconds ago. She blinked once and was immediately blinded by the brightness of the room. She moaned lightly, again, and forced her eyes open once more.
'' Richard...? '' She called out, her voice almost a whisper. It wasn't really a question. Alex knew the man was there, she just couldn't figure his face out of the blur that was her eye sight. She blinked several times, her eyebrows frowned, but it didn't get better, and she still couldn't see anything familiar in the room she was placed in.

Relief. At least she was alive. She was alive, and she was talking. Ben would be pleased, and deep down, Richard was, too. Richard had watched Alex grow up, watched her grow and play and get thrust into a world that she didn't belong in. He watched as she jerked in a breath, and his brows narrowed slightly. "Deep breaths. Deep breaths and it'll go away." He knew it took so much getting used to, and by a simple last resort, he had taken Alex. He hadn't wanted to, he hadn't any idea that she would survive, however, he had told Ben that he would get her off the Island. It was a choice he had to take.
"I know it hurts. It takes alot to get used to it." he told her, looking from her face to the moniters, and then back at her face. "I need you to focus on my face. The pain will go away if you keep looking at me. You've got no reason to be worried."
There'd be the question soon of how she got back. How she got off the Island. And Richard wouldn't be able to tell her, not yet. "You're in Los Angeles, California. If you want to sit up, do it very slowly, you'll feel very sick. Tell me what you remember, if anything." However, he knew that she would probably remember very little right now. Richard was thankful for that, because she'd ask too many question that he didn't feel comfortable answering at the moment.

Slowly but surely, the teenager was coming back to her senses, and reality wasn’t that much of a blur anymore, but what she found wasn't all that delightful. Richard was still speaking to her, explaining things to her, and she was trying her best to concentrate on his voice and register his words, but it wasn’t much of an easy task. Alex could only focus on the pain that had just savagely taken over her, while she had been strangely numb just a second ago. She clenched her teeth and held back a moan of pain, shutting her eyes closed just as she thought she heard the man telling her not to.
Alex sucked in a deep, painful breath and forced her eyes opened, again. She blinked several times and tried her very best to do as Richard told her, turning her face as much as she could in his direction to stare at him. There were so many questions running trough her heads, but she couldn’t concentrate on telling out loud any of them, but he spoke to her again, giving her some information on where she was. Her eyebrows furrowed.
‘’ Los An… ‘’ She tried to repeat their location, without any recognition ringing in her voice, but the aching attacked her throat, and she coughed once or twice. She had to blink again in order to keep her eyes straight opened and her vision focus, but such simple things as that were somehow to hard. She didn’t understand what was going on, but Richard demanded if she recalled anything. Alex tried, wishing so badly that she could answer anything constructive, but nothing came to mind, and the pain was taking away most of her will to recall.
‘’ I… I don’t remember… No. Just the jungle… ‘’ She managed to speak, as loud as she could, practically sobbing now as she gasped for breath, breathing in and out as slowly as she could. She remained completely still, laying on her back, her eyes locked on his, as he had demanded. ‘’ What happened to me, Richard ? ‘’ She asked in a faint voice, her words pleading for explanations.

As she sucked in a breath, Richard's eyes glanced to the heart moniter that she was hooked up too, and it ticked along with her rapid heartrate. "Your heart rate is going too fast, you're hearts going to explode in your chest." he told her, looking from the moniter to her face again. "I need to to slow it down. Calm, deep breaths. In through your nose and out through your mouth." he told her evenly, and moved to turn a dial by the bed to lower the lights slightly.
She said she simply remembered the jungle, and he nodded. "I took you from the Island. Don't ask me how right now, some day maybe I'll tell you, but for right now, you just have to realise that you could have easily died. It was very hard to get you off the Island, and both of us could have easily died because of it." He moved, pressing his hand against her forehead. "Your fever's gone down, that's good.." he told her, and looked at the bandage on her head. "It doesn't matter if you don't remember. I'm actually glad you don't remember. It's something that you shouldn't have to remember; you're safe now and that's all tha matters." He moved, brushing a strand of sweat-soaked from the side of her face, before frowning slightly at the tears. Her breathing had slowed, as well as her heartrate. "Good." he told her positively, nodding slightly. "That's real good. You're not staying here for long, Alex. I'm taking you some place safe, for now at least. Somewhere where you can't be hurt anymore."
Richard took in the girl lying on the bed, and he was glad, truely glad that she wasn't dead. He stood up from the bed and moved to pour Alex a glass of water. "Sit up slowly and drink." he told her gently. "I'm going to have some people in here drawing some blood and doing some memory tests on you, is that alright? We need to make sure nothing was affected when you came back. But it's not for a while; you need to rest."
