"I'm sorry." Alice repeated when he said that his ex-wife had cheated on him. That's why Alice had never really bothered to get marrid herself - too many things that could go wrong. She was perfectly fine being single. "And it was probably not your fault." She added quickly afterward.
"You're a damn good doctor Jack - and you shouldn't believe any different. Don't let anyone - not even yourself - tell you differently. And I know you are probably tired of hearing it, but you obviously don't believe it yourself." Alice stated, glancing up at him, pulling one of the candy suckers out of her pocket and beginning to eat it. She held up one to Jack, silently offering him one.
"You've made it off a deserted island alive - I heard how you were their leader from some of the papers. You probably saved lives on that island Jack. You survived something not a lot of people could." |
