Charlotte let out a sigh, brushing hair off her shoulder.
"The place - the place where I was born." She said slowly, not looking at Leandra. Her gaze was directed at the coffee shop's wall to her left. Her lips twitched slightly. She had spent a few years on the island as a child. "And I want to study the mysterious island properties more, like how one of the polar bears on that island ended up in the desert."
'It's not that huge of a deal though." Charlotte spoke, looking back at her. "According to Dan, it's very dangerous." She added, drumming her fingers silently. "And he doesn't want to go back, but he said he would if I went. And I don't want to put him in that kind of danger. It's kind of senseless really, for both of us to be mauled by polar bears."

The place - the place where I was born...Leandra stumbled to find the right words to reply to this. "B...but I...I thought the Island didn't allow women to have babies?" she questioned, unless she got it wrong. Maybe it was only a recent thing. She wasn't up on the mysteries of the Island too much, she didn't pay too much attention to it. Just that she knew she was stranded and ached to get home.
"But I can understand the ache to get back if you were born there, wanting to know more about where you are from, it makes sense in a lot of ways" Leah said softly trying to understand why Charlotte wanted to go back to the Island.
According to Dan, it's very dangerous.....And he doesn't want to go back, but he said he would if I went. And I don't want to put him in that kind of danger. It's kind of senseless really, for both of us to be mauled by polar bears...."When you put it like that it does make a lot of sense. So you're having to deal with it then, bu its obviously upsetting you, because you seem so down about not getting back" she said with a reassuring smile. "Maybe getting a job and moving on will be the best thing for you" she continued in gentle tones.

"The island doesn't." She said. "My mother was pregnant before she came to the island, kind of like that Claire woman." Charlotte explained to Leandra.
She rested her chin in her hand, her mind swirling with thoughts of the island and her family back in England. Her sisters had been born in a normal hospital, but adding to her oddness, she had been born on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
"I'll get over it. But yeah, a new job and such will probably help." She said with a brief smile. "I should just stop thinking about it, because Dan's probably right. It's too dangerous anyway."

Leandra listened carefully to what Charlotte told her about being born on the Island. She was very interested to know what she would say. But as soon as she said like Claire, Leandra realised that Charlotte's mother must have been quite far into her pregnancy when she arrived on the Island. "So what made your mother go to the Island, if you don't mind me asking?" Leah inquired, she found Charlotte quite an intriguing character, and wanted to try and find out more about her. Sometimes it could help you understand a character more.
"I wish you every luck with getting a new job you can enjoy" Leah said with a big smile, and she meant it. Seeing people happy was all Leah cared about. She didn't like to think people she liked and cared about were sad and upset. "And I think you are wise to believe Dan, it could be a beautiful place, but it had its dangers" Leandra actually felt herself shudder when she said the word dangers.

Charlotte smiled slightly.
"My parents worked for the Dharma Initiative. They were recruited to help with the experiments. My father worked with the animals, my father worked for the medical part. Being pregnant gave her the chance to run experiments on herself too." She explained.
"Thanks." Charlotte added when Leandra wished her luck. "I hope your meeting with your father goes well tomorrow too." She added, then let out a slight laugh. "Dangers like smoke monsters, polar bears, and giant boars."

Leah was quite surprised when Charlotte said her parents worked for the Dharma Initiative. That was quite something. "Really? I bet Locke would have been very interested in meeting up with your parents" she was half joking and half serious. Everybody on the Island knew how much Locke was fascinated with the Island and everything to do with it. "So, did your parents leave after a while and take you with them?" Leah questioned, "Or did you leave when you were old enough?" she continued with a smile.
Then she realised maybe she was asking too many questions, she didn't want to make Charlotte feel uncomfortable, or feel she had to answer anything she didn't want to. "Of course you don't have to tell me" Leandra added in with a worried look on her face, "I don't want you to feel like I'm hounding or hassling you" she smiled lightly.
"Thanks Char, I'm sure the meeting will go well with my father" Leah smiled, it was nice to think that she'd be meeting him tomorrow. It was sad it didn't happen today, but it just made tomorrow a day to look forward to. She laughed too when Charlotte elaborated on the dangers of the Island. "Yeah they were pretty bad, who would have thought a beautiful Island would have so many dangers" she said carrying on with much laughter.

"Probably." She said with a slight shrug, taking another drink of coffee. "Thought my parents weren't exactly nice, so they would have upset him or something."
"Yeah, they finished with their work and were allowed to go home. I was six, so they took me with them." She said, examining her nails without interest. "I can't remember much about my time there on the island, but I remember going to school, and the alarms when Hostiles attacked the Initiative. And all the green." She made a face. "I hate the color green now. But it's fine. You're actually one of the first people I've explained this all throughly to."
"Sometimes beauty can be decieving." Charlotte said after a moment. "That island is just plain strange."

"Well I don't think it would matter whether your parents weren't very nice or not, I still think Locke would find something to be upset about given his personality" Leandra said smiling slightly. She never liked Locke much. She could never tell why, but something about him just unnerved her. She felt much safer around Jack.
Again Leandra listened to Charlotte as she spoke of her early days from what she could remember on the Island. It must have been a weird time for her. "At least you don't remember too much" Leah said softly, hoping that it would help somewhat, "I get why you don't like green, I'm not keen on it myself, never had a reason to not like green, I just don't" she said with a little laugh.
A lot of things could be deceiving Leandra thought to herself, even herself probably to other people. Most people probably looked at her and thought a materialistic bitch. But deep down if they knew her well, they'd realise, that she wasn't just materialistic, she was a genuine passionate and caring woman just wanting to love and be loved.

Charlotte simply shrugging, nursing her coffee. She stifled a slight yawn and rested her chin in her hands again.
"I would have liked to remember more. I liked living on the island. It was part of the reason why I wanted to stay on the island...." She said, trailing off slightly. Then she shook her head. "But I'm kind of glad I came back." She continued with a small smile.
"And it wouldn't have been good to be eaten by a polar bear or something to that nature." She laughed.

Leandra could understand why Charlotte would have liked to stay on the Island. In many ways it made you want to stay, but it many more ways it forced you to thinking of leaving. "The Island made me want to stay in the fact it was beautiful, but the strangeness of it is why I was glad to leave and of course being able to see my father again" she couldn't wait to meet him again after all their time apart. It didn't even bear thinking about if Charlotte got eaten by a polar bear or something of that nature. "Hell of course not, what would we do without Charlotte?" Leah said softly with a grin. "You became a good friend" she continued. [ooc: hope you don't mind that last line, just trying to build up relationships for my character ]

"I wanted to stay to find my birthplace and where I used to live, but yeah, being back does have it's perks." She smiled slightly, looking at Leandra.
Charlotte couldn't help but laugh.
"You're one of the first people to say something like that." She said. "Usually people think I'm some sort of bitch that does nothing but lie." She added, chuckling again. "But thanks."

"I can understand why you would want to know more about where you were born and stayed Char, it makes total sense, I wish there was some way you could go back which wouldn't be dangerous for you" Leah said with a smile.
She meant it too. If there was a way to go back, even for a couple of weeks without danger, she'd probably go back herself. Just because it was such a beautiful Island, not for the memories, because there were a lot of bad memories from the Island.
Leah giggled a little when Charlotte laughed at what she said about being a friend. "Well how I see it is, everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I don't know why others think what they think, but I like you, then I pretty much liked everybody on the Island"
This was true. The only person she could say she didn't really like much, whether they were helping or not, were Locke and Ben. She just could never quite get either of them. It didn't matter what they said or did, both of them just made Leandra squirm when they were around.
[ooc: thanks - I may post in your relationship plot soon]

"It's not the danger. I'm not afriad of that stuff honestly. It's the promise I made to Dan." She said, using one of the small plastic straws to stir her coffee idily. She was determined not to break that promise.
"And people don't have to be so opinionated. It pisses me off when they call me a bitch. I punched a guy in the face for it once." Charlotte muttered, smirking slightly at the memory. It had been quite funny, though she had accidentally broken the man's nose. She had quickly scurried off after that, and learned to control her temper.

Leah admired the strength in Charlotte, she would never be fearless of danger. Every time the smoke monster reared its head or boars or polar bears were mentioned on the Island Leandra felt like running for cover. If she was even half has brave as Charlotte, Leah would be onto a good thing.
"Well you're pretty tough Char, I'm a weakling. But I agree with you on promises, I don't make promises if I think I can't keep them, as you said, promises are not made to be broken" she agreed with a small smile.
"Too true, overly opinionated people annoy me, I'd love to have seen that punch though" Leandra laughed as she said this. "Well anybody calls you a bitch when you're around me, I'll be saying plenty, even though you can take care of yourself. Nobody says anything about one of my friends"
Leandra could be very protective when it came to her friends. Okay maybe a few weeks of being together on a remote Island wasn't a lot to base friendships on, but when you didn't have anybody else in the world you knew, trusted and loved, you had to make new relationships with the people you were with and fast. It wasn't the kind of place to be alone. Not as far as Leah was concerned anyway. She always made sure she was around someone on the Island at all times.

"When the time comes, you eventually figure out how to pack a punch, especially if you're attacked. And I doubt you're honestly that weak." She said, rubbing her temple.
"I broke his nose." She spoke, grinning proudly. "And thanks for the backup." She added, laughing.
Charlotte was pretty sure Leandra would be the only friend she would make out of the rest of the people from the island. Most of them still believed her a liar. She didn't care. Growing up with a family like her's kinda made you not care what people thought or said about you. She smirked bitterly to herself, letting another sigh escape her lips.
