She noticed how he stumbled over saying 'my Claire'. In many ways it was quite sweet, it was a shame that he and Claire couldn't try and make another go of things, maybe they could work it out a second time.
"So she's quite keen on psychics and astrology then?" Leah asked Thomas, by his reaction it sounded like she was. She smiled at him warmly. He was a nice young guy, and if she could help sort his life out, she'd do her best, hell it took her long enough to sort her own life out.
Leah smiled warmly again. "Yes you should make a go of it with Alice, I'm sure if you explain why you left so quickly, she'll understand" she began, "nothing like this happens over night, just give it a little time, allow yourself to adjust, you'll do right" she continued.

"I suppose so" he said at her advice. He smiled at Claire. "Yeah, she was always into all that junk. It'd tell her to stop wasting her money on it, but she'd never listen to me." His face dropped. "I guess it never would have worked between us anyway."
He realized that he left her for a reason, he really shouldn't have been such a coward though.

"I'm sure there were many reasons why it wouldn't have worked" Leah said sadly, but with a kind smile and kind eyes, "But I am sure there would have been just as many reasons why it could have worked, you have a child together" Leah said.
She was trying to make good of his situation, she realy felt for him. The best thing he could do, was make a clean break and move on with his life. Underlying issues burning away for months and years it's not good for anybody.

"Yeah" Thomas replied softly. "Maybe I'll get another coffee... want one?" He asked her getting up. It was probably better to just sit in silence where he wouldn't have to talk about his past.
Things were eating him up enough as it was. He wanted to see Aaron again, but it scared the life out of him, he closed his eyes for a second and opened them again to the bustling coffee house.

"Another coffee sounds lovely, thanks" Leah said with a warm smile when Thomas went to get himself another. She was beginning to wonder if talking about his past was upsetting him, after all talking about her own past was upsetting her.
"We can change the subject if you like?" she asked him softly with a warm smile. She wasn't sure what they could talk about now, but hopefully either one of them could come up with something worthwhile which wouldn't stress the young lad out she thought.

He came back with the coffee's and a few packs of sugar. "Sorry, don't know how you take it" he said. "It's fine. Really. It's just hard finally dealing with everything now. Thought I never really would." He smiled and sat down opposite her again. "So let's talk about your plans for the future then... when you get over this bloke."

She smiled at him warmly when he brang the coffee over, "Thanks Thomas" she said.
"I know, it is hard confronting the past to carry on with your future" she said she knew it only too well. She had to get over the death of her fiance, then try to get over Sawyer with Miles. Yet somehow, so far it hadn't worked, and she wasn't sure if it ever would.
She just needed someone to truly love her, or at least show her some form of love and care.
Her future. Now that was a daunting prospect for sure. She had no idea what the future held for her. "Depends on which guy I'm getting over. Sawyer or the guy I've been using to try and get over Sawyer?" she asked with a bit of a laugh, because when you thought about it, it was a damn funny situation to be in.

Thomas recoiled. "Woa. There's another guy?" He was almost glad that he hadn't taken her up on her offer now. It sounded too complicated. "So tell about it. It couldn't be any more screwed up than my situation" he offered. It really couldn't. There had to be someone out there that understood the commitment phobic... like a club or something.

She shrugged lightly, and laughed, and then blushed. "Yeah there's another guy" she said wondering just how much she should tell him. Then thought it wouldn't do any harm, if they were friends, she may as well pour her heart out to him as well as he her.
"Well basically while stranded on the Island I fell in love with a guy called Sawyer, bu the never even knew I existed and in fact loves someone else, as I said earlier" she began, stopping to take another sip of her coffee.
"I then bumped into Miles a few days ago in the corridor of the hotel I'm staying in, and because I was messed up over Sawyer, I thought it might be good to use him to try and get over Sawyer, and well basically so far, it doesn't appear to be working" she rambled on slightly.
"So yeah it's all a big mess and well done to me I guess" she finished and then gave off a little laugh.

"So don't tell me there's another whole unrequited end to this triangle... quadrangle... that you're telling me about" Thomas queeried as he lifted off the lid and sipped his coffee. "So what do you like this guy or something and if not... what is the point of using him to get over someone else."
He supposed they'd all been there. He'd used a fair few art models to get over Claire. Never ended up working. Especially not when he found out about the crash anyway.

"It's awkward" she began, that was a total understatment, it was a bloody mess. "My love for Sawyer is unrequited, Sawyer's love for Kate is unrequited, what Miles and I have is just weird" she continued. "It's not a healthy relationship, but I guess in some weird way I care about him, so I let it continue" she said not sure whether she was trying to convince Thomas or herself that it wasn't such a bad thing.
"I guess there is no point in using him, but it makes me feel wanted" she said shrugging slightly.

"So if you care for him what's stopping you from following your own advice?" He asked her, thinking it was a tad hypocritical if she expected him to just go for it with this new girl when she wasn't doing the same thing.
"And I thought you said that I had low self-esteem?" He told her pointedly, hoping he wasn't being too cruel. "You know, you shouldn't feel the need to feel wanted...."

"It's not that easy with Miles" she began slowly, "He doesn't really like intimacy, where as I do. I like to hug and kiss, hold hands, that kind of thing, he doesn't. Its sex, as quick as it's over he's up and left sort of a guy" she explained, not even sure if it was what Thomas wanted to hear.
But she needed him to understand why she was finding it difficult to follow her own advice, even if it were hypocritical.
"I don't have a low self esteem" she started to argue, then shrugged defeated, "I guess I do, but a lot of that stems from when my fiance died" she continued sadly.

"So you're going to have to get over it... get someone that will..." Thomas began and then sighed. "What am I saying? I'm a mess. I can't give you relationship advice." He gave her an apologetic look. "Sorry."

"Get over what?" she asked unsure what he was referring to, get over the intimacy issue, or get over him she thought. She knew which she preferred to get over.
"So you mean get over Miles? Or get over the fact he doesn't like intimacy? Because I don't think I could remain in a relationship where there was no intimacy" she continued sadly.
"No need to apologise, thanks for trying to help" Leah said softly with a sad smile. It would seem that neither was better than the other when it came to relationships.
