"I come in good faith, man" Miles told him. "I just want to give him some information..." and maybe throw around what an incompetent ass he is Miles added to himself.
"Yeah sure" he said about the coffee. He'd may as well. It didn't hurt to get more cops on his side. The more information he could get about anything the better.
"Anyway, they're not dead. Apparently they've been seen hanging around L.A. and a friend of mine told me that all you people witnessed the actual deaths of these people on the island."

"Alright, well," Dennis began uneasily. "I think...that Kevin's going to be in for a few more hours. Hopefully a good amount of time to give him some information." He shot Miles a look that clearly said he was wondering what this might involve. Dennis was naturally curious and didn't entirely trust Miles.
"Well, I saw Boone die," Dennis remembered. Another thing he didn't miss about the island, not that it mattered, because now they're alive. "And Shannon was dead when Sayid brought her back, Ana was dead when we found her, I saw Libby die, and only a few people saw Eko die. But I have seen them all dead, and I witnessed they're funerals, and am currently working on how they got back, alive."

((yawn))
"You're currently working on it?" Miles scoffed. "Yeah, let me know when you figure that out." He said disbelievingly. "How did you see all these people die?" Miles questioned, getting comfortable, "you walk around the island like the grim reaper or something telling everyone when their time is?" Miles rolled his eyes, wondering where his coffee was.

"Yeah, Miles, as in, I'm trying to figure it out," Dennis snapped. He wanted to go talk to some of them and ask them a few questions but he thought that would be kind of weird. He was currently trying to figure out how he could get to talk to them without them thinking he was some weird stalker or something. Before he could stop himself, he added, "It would really help if I could get back to the island and figure out some things there."
"And no, I'm not a murderer," Dennis said. "Locke brought Boone back severely injured and Jack tried to help...I was there. And Libby was the same. Michael shot her and Jack couldn't save her." Dennis looked down sadly. "But seriously, Miles, you work with death, apparently. You wanna help try and figure this thing out?"

"It would really help if we could all get back to the island... and I'll tell you what. You can get anyone else from flight 815 to come along, and we'll make our way back there." Miles offered. At this point he was desperate enough to take anyone and this guy wasn't tubby or the guy who tried to break his nose in the Stone Pony that time... so it could have been worse.
"So what? You want to compare notes?" Miles scoffed. "So what do you think you have 'figured out' about this?" He asked with interest, doubting this guy even knew what he was talking about.

"Wait...we could all?" Dennis questioned, suddenly way more interested. "All as in who?" Miles said he'd been seeing other 815ers around. Who else wanted to get back to the island? "And I haven't talked to anyone since we got back, not really, anyway. I don't think they'd really want to."
Dennis sighed and ran his hand through his hair, pushing it out of his face. He took a coffee out of the woman's hand, muttering another 'thanks' and handed it to Miles. "No, Miles. I know you. What do you know about the supposed deaths of these people?"

"Well, I'm one of the few people who isn't going to think that it's some sort of joint hallucination" Miles put forth, taking his coffee. "You'd be lucky if you get that credibility from anyone else."
He frowned slightly regarding going back to the island. "All as in everyone" he snapped. "The people you don't like. The people I don't like. Anyone that's ever been to the island before. Everyone."

Dennis looked at Miles, confused. "Everyone?" Anyone that's ever been to the island before? Was it having the same effect on everyone that had been there? "So, you've talked to people from the crash, and they want to go back, but the problem is none of us know how."
Dennis shrugged. "And who said I don't like them? I got along with about everyone on the island fairly well. Why? Didn't you?" Dennis knew the answer...no. If everyone thought about Miles the way he did then they all thought he was way too annoying for his own good.

"Well if they want to go back it should be simple then" Miles told him, although it wasn't. He still had to get Dan and Lapidus on board. One of them easier to convince than the other.
"Fine, fine... you liked them, whatever" Miles said taking a gulp of his coffee. What did the guy want an award for being Mr Popular or something?

"Simple, yeah, let's go with that," Dennis said, rolling his eyes. "Because getting there was so simple, and people find it so often that it should be no problem." If Miles could use sarcasm, so could he. "Miles, you annoy the hell out of me," he added bluntly.
"Miles, not everyone has social issues like you," Dennis snapped. "Show more respect and be more open to different people. You'd be surprised."

Miles scowled. He didn't want to say the feeling was mutual. That would complete prove the guy's point, besides this guy didn't know what he was talking about. He'd been open to lots of people. Like Betty. Most people couldn't pay him to be around someone that annoying, but ever since he got to the island he had to make do. "You'd be surprised just how many of you 815ers I've been in contact with lately" he put in. "And I never said that all of you are annoying" he commented. It was true. Not all of them. Tubby was fine. Good to poke fun at.

Dennis just shook his head. Miles needed to make up his mind. "First you say everyone says they want to go back, and then you say the people you don't like. It was only logical for me to assume that you didn't like any of them." Dennis wasn't going to lose his head again. But Miles really drove him out of it, and he felt sorry for whoever else he came in contact with. "Yeah, I figured that out when you said 'man, are you guys everywhere?' Use some logic, Miles. I can figure things out without you actually saying it."

"Stop putting words in my mouth man" Miles interjected, almost spilling his coffee as he did so. "I said if everyone wants to go back, I can get them back." He rolled his eyes slightly, "and that's not the logical thought at all. When did I ever say I hate all Flight 815 survivors? What is it written on a bathroom wall somewhere? No. Then listen, smart guy and try to just hear what I'm saying instead of interpreting it."
He sighed and took another long sip of his coffee. The days were getting longer and longer in this city. A never ending tirade that he just wanted to be finished with. Even if they went to the island it would be OK. He'd just deal with the people that annoyed him. How else had he remained friends with Charlotte if he wasn't good at dealing with people that annoyed him?

"Miles, I'm not going to spell it out for you, no matter how much that may be needed," Dennis began, keeping his cool the best he could. "I asked you all as in who, and you said everyone. Then you continued with saying the people you don't like. I could only assume that you don't like everyone who wanted to go back. It makes sense, man, if you really thought about it, but you clearly don't put much thought into anything."
"You can't go through life without interpretation, Miles," Dennis added, calming down a bit. "You'll spend all your time waiting for a clear, out-loud answer that just won't come." That's what you learned while being a cop. Probably the most important thing Dennis learned. There's always going to be something to figure out, clues to put together, and it'll make sense. It seemed not enough people knew that in the world, but with a little talk, hopefully Miles would.

"I said everyone needed to go back, not that I hated everyone wise guy. It would be a waste of my effort to hate everyone. In fact if you knew me at all, you'd know that I hate very little of the population. Maybe Widmore's on my list..." but he did try to kill Charlotte, "Maybe not." He thought about this. "But the point is, that if you waste too much time hating people then you never get to do anything else with your life." He gulped his coffee. "Not that there's enough time to actually do anything with it" he added.
