Charlotte glared at Miles, taking a large drink of her White Russian. "I'll speak with you later Leandra. Right now, I'm going to take care of him." She muttered to the blonde before she left.
She shifted in her seat, and the moment Leandra stepped out the door, her hand came up and slapped Miles, hard, across the face. "How dare you speak to her like that you insufferable little jerk!" She hissed violently through clenched teeth. She could care less if he didn't care if she died. She knew he didn't care, and it honestly didn't bother her.
"Now say to me what you have to say to me. Now, before I change my mind and do the smart thing like she did and leave."

Miles might have missed the opportunity with Leandra, but he didn't with Charlotte. He grabbed her hand as it retreated and twisted it tight.
"To start with you don't even know what I said. Secondly. This isn't about you. This isn't about me. This isn't even about that whiny woman that wouldn't leave me alone" Miles hissed, referring to Leandra. "This is about us getting back to the island and I don't care what you said to Dan. You know why you have to go back Charlotte."
He pulled her tightly to him and hissed one more time in her ear, "and don't you try anything like that again."
He released her and picked up his drink again. He didn't know why he needed Charlotte to get back to the island. She could do what she liked... but somehow deep down he knew that was a lie.

Charlotte struggled in his grip for a moment, but froxe as he hissed in her ear. Her eyes were smoldering in anger now, and it took all her self control not to throw Miles up against the wall behind him. Her fists clenched when he released her, gripping the edge of the bar tightly. Picking up her glass, she threw back the rest of her drink and quickly ordered a tequila, the last alcohol she was going to be having.
"Touch me like you just did and I swear to God I will not hesitate to break your arm or stab you with anything sharp enough within my reach." She growled darkly, turning to glare at him. Her glass was clenched so tightly in her hand, it suddenly shattered. She ignored it, simply moving her hand to where the bartender could clean it up. Her hand was bleeding slightly and a few shards of glass were stuck in her skin.
She didn't feel it.
"I do care what I promised Miles. Dan actually put it into perspective for me today when we chatted. There's too much danger involved, and too many things could happen. It's unsafe right now." Charlotte said through clenched teeth. She knew the dangers weren't keeping her away. She didn't care about those; she was lying to herself. She wanted to go back to the island, and she knew why.
She just wasn't going to admit it out loud.

Miles relaxed a little when Charlotte's glass broke in her hand. He was used to annoying her like this. It was normal. And he didn't have some desperado following him anymore.
"So what? We're just supposed to wait until something happens to the island? We're just supposed to sit here and wait until the time comes when we might never go back?" Miles went back to pacing. "You know just as well as me that we don't want to do that."
Miles raised his eyebrows and looked over to the shards of glass she hadn't bothered to remove from her hand. He grinned at her and took her hand, pulling out a few bits of glass. It was funny to see how far he could push Charlotte. It always had been.

She knew it, but she still wasn't going to admit it.
"We don't have to go back at all." She muttered, not looking at him. Her jaw was still clenched tightly, her hands still balled into fists. She winced as the glass began to push farther into her skin.
She jerked her hand away from him, almost childishly, not wanting him to even touch her. Her blood was still boiling, so much that when the bartender replaced her drink, she downed it in one drink. "And I still don't understand why you want or need to go back.

Charlotte was the most stubborn woman he had ever had the misfortune of meeting. He couldn't believe on how easily she could lie to herself that her past wasn't important.
"We all have our reasons. And we'll lie about them 80 percent of the time." He watched as she yanked her hand away and downed another drink. He grabbed her hand again and proceeded to get out more glass. It was the least he could do after what he said to Leandra about his "buddies".
"In your case... more"

"Well, you already know my reasons." She began, pulling her hand away for the second time and glaring at him. "So it's only fair that I know yours."
Charlotte knew ever single one of her reasons, and she knew Miles knew them from the ghosts. Of course, he probably didn't understand them.

"Fine" he said finally. He wasn't used to giving out information about himself, but it didn't mean he wasn't honest when asked. "I'm going back there to make sure Ben pays for what he did. Is that enough?"
His eyes narrowed. It was only part of the story but Miles didn't want to give away the whole plot, especially to someone like Charlotte that he wasn't sure he could trust completely. She would probably just run to Dan with anything he told her.
He grabbed her hand, annoyed. She was so stubborn and he was sick of dealing with her. It was like that in the helicopter. He could throw Dan out and he told Charlotte to go next... but of course Charlotte wasn't jumping until the last second. She annoyed him. He brushed her hand off quickly and gave it back to her, most of the glass gone. "And I suggest you keep your temper next time." He mentioned, referring to her hand.

Charlotte's lips twitched.
"That's a lie. Or at least, that's not the only reason." She stated, flexing her fingers once Miles had removed the glass. It still hurt, a lot, but she ignored the pain and the drops of blood that were forming in the places where the glass had been.
"You shouldn't piss me off to where my temper gets that bad." She replied dryly.

"As shocking as this is" Miles let out a fake gasp, "It wasn't you I was trying to piss off."
It must have been shocking. It was usually her that he was pissing off. But it's not like he tried too, she was just too sensitive.
He frowned at her, caught out. "OK. I don't care about Ben getting his just desserts. But if you think it doesn't matter to me what he did to your people, you're wrong."

She frowned at him, narrowing her eyes slightly. Her temper was slowly depleting, but she was still angry. Charlotte let out a sigh, folding her arms across her chest. She didn't like it when he spoke to people the way he spoke to Leandra - the way a lot of men spoke to their girlfriends and such.
However, Charlotte jerked her head back toward him.
My people?
"They aren't my people. They're Hanso's people. And they do have names in case you didn't notice." She continued sharply.

"Aren't they?" Miles questioned with mock innocence. She went further in with Dharma than she realized. But then again... she wasn't the only one.
She could try to deny it, but her reasons for getting back to the island were pretty serious ones... and Dan... well, Dan's seemed fickle in comparison.
He took in what she said about having names. Miles downed the rest of his White Russian and ordered another. "I know they have names. Just because you have a new friend that seems to think I'm a heartless bastard doesn't mean I am one."

Charlotte rolled her eyes, brushing hair off her shoulders.
"I mean, I lived with them, but they aren't my people. They don't belong to me." She said quietly, staring at the counter. Her fingers traced invisible patterns on the wood. She snorted when he mentioned what she had said about the names.
"The Dharma Initiative isn't the only reason I want to go back."

This was clearly news to Miles. And he thought he knew the entire story. He leant over his drink at the bar, turning a head to look at her with an eager expression. "You've got bigger reasons than your past?"
He gave a low whistle. "And Dan still thinks that you're going to stay." He shook his head and sipped his drink. Dan was a fool... well... for a genius.

"I am going to stay." She said quickly, her head snapping around to look at him. "Just not forever. I'll go back... eventually." She spoke quietly.
"And no, not bigger reasons, just more. Polars bears and smoke monsters among them." She explained slowly, taking a drink of her unfinished water. She let out a sigh, placing a hand at her temple.
