"Yeah, yeah" Miles ignored her. She would go back to the island, no matter what she thought about it now. He just had to figure out how. He flipped out his cell phone and made a call, thinking of one person he could get to work out just what was happening.
"Lapidus. Long time no speak" he said into it, still ignoring Leandra. "Yeah, I know. I've met up with Charlotte for a few times, I don't know how long she's going to be staying here. I guess as long as she wants to stay away from her family, could be forever..." He rolled his eyes. "So listen buddy... you still know the flight 815 manifest right? Any Ana-Lucia Cortez that you can remember?" He paused, Frank on the other end answering. "Cancellation? So she didn't get on the plane at all?" He smiled, laughter tempting to escape his lips again. "That's good. Yeah, thanks man. We'll be in contact."
He flipped the phone back shut and turned to Leandra. "Now we've just got to figure out why people who weren't even on the plane were on the island" he told her seriously.

Leah could only look on in much disdain as he took out his cell phone and started making a phone call completely ignoring her, but then it wasn't as if she wasn't used to being ignored by him. At least he was calling her by her name, which was one good move in his favour.
She could only listen to the conversation one sided, but when he repeated cancellation, she looked over at him. So it was true, everybody who had died on the Island while she was there, had never been according to them, they'd cancelled their flights. She was mystified.
"Yeah well that's an easy assumption to come to, but I don't know how you're going to find that out, and I am not going back to the Island" she replied just as defiantly as she had before. He would have to give up on her going back eventually, because he could say it until he was blue in the face, she would not give up.

"So much for camaraderie" Miles told her, "I really thought we were together on this." He really didn't mean it earnestly, he knew she was rejecting him but it was just a thing to say. "Look Leandra." He grabbed her hand again for perhaps the third time and pulled her over from the chair to the bed. He wasn't sure what to do. He was so used to just doing his own thing and not giving a damn what anybody else thought... but now he had to. Now the only way he'd be able to get to the island was if he could get everyone else to go too. Frankly the whole thing sucked. But he'd do his best... even if it seemed like an impossible mission. Maybe this ghost scare could convince everyone to go back... but he'd need someone on his side. As much as he hated it, Leandra might just be able to help it work. "We'll work this out." He repeated, and pulled her into his arms even if she was going to resist. "Because I know you're bothered by this whole walking dead thing as much as I am."

He wasn't getting it she thought again for what felt like the hundredth time that visit, she simply wasn't interested in him or going back to the Island. She'd made a mistake sleeping with him the previous two times. Maybe she had been using him as much as he had been using her, but she would not allow herself to be put in that position again.
Someone like Miles never changed, she knew that much, and even though he was trying to convince her otherwise, it wasn't working, he had to convince himself first before he could convince her. When he pulled her into his arms, she recoiled, and pulled herself free from him.
"Look Miles, you don't love me" she was sure she'd said that to him already this evening, but she said it again anyway just to clarify things. "I know you don't, you know you don't and we both know you never will, so stop trying to use me" she had her head about her today, even if she had seen a few 'ghosts' around town today.
If Miles wasn't such a jerk then maybe she could really like him, and she really tried to like him, but she didn't and besides, trying to cover up her true feelings, it just wasn't working. She still loved Sawyer even though she knew she'd never have him. He'd never be hers, but burying those feelings with Miles hadn't worked, she realised that now and it had to stop.
"Yes I'm bothered by it" she said softly from the bed, although she'd pulled out of his arms, she remained on the bed, "But not so bothered by it, to allow myself to think you give a damn enough about me, so I fall for you and agree to go back to that bloody Island, because it's not happening Miles" she rambled slightly but in very firm and defiant tones.

((I seriously love how messed up this "relationship" is. Really I think it's been progressing to reach a stage of being totally screwy. It's great! Just don't ask me about the Archie rant... )) It always changed back to annoyance for him, he was forever annoyed by this woman and her indecisiveness. If she didn't want him, she wouldn't have brought him up to her room... again. She wasn't that stupid was she? She didn't even want 'love'... she just didn't know what she wanted. Simple as that. It was just his job to convince her. "Is this because I said you weren't my type?" Miles replied indifferently, "because seriously, I think you're getting all worked up about nothing." He sunk further back on the bed, not surprised that she pulled away but she still hadnt kicked him out so there was nothing preventing him from trying again. He wanted to appease her. In his mind, she was kinda like his Betty. OK, well... he grew up reading superhero comics more than Archie... but he had to draw parallels from the situation in spite of himself. Betty was the pretty blond chick who threw herself at the hero but never quite got chosen one way or another, and Veronica ( Cortez) was the hot brunette that every guy wanted but never got. The hero never learnt his lesson and would keep stringing along the hot blond, while waiting out for the hot brunette that would never truly be his. Tragic. But then he remembered that he hated Archie comics. And Casper comics. But he still could find the charm in x-men all these years on. Plus, Miles had absolutely nothing else in common with Archie as far as he could tell. "I never said I didn't give a damn about you, for your information" he pointed out again. He ran a hand over the soft skin on her arm. Betty. The girl did have her charms... despite being painfully annoying. "So maybe you can stop putting words in my mouth and get over this whole misconception of me being the creep responsible for everything bad that's ever happened to you."

[ooc: Yeah its pretty class - but they don't really have a relationship - but that's what is so funny about it - but Leah isn't giving into him this time, sorry]
"It's got nothing to do with that Miles" she said with anger in her voice, she could feel herself getting very angry again, and if he wasn't careful she'd just throw him out of her room again. It was getting to the stage where if she never saw him again she could care less.
"It's to do with me, learning to respect myself" she said loudly and in a strong voice. She would not be dictated to, by him or by anybody else, and she didn't care what he thought of her. He already had ill feeling toward her, so she may as well hammer his feelings home.
She decided to be honest with him, then he'd maybe get her more, even if he did end up hating her, which was no big deal, since he already hated her anyway. "I don't love you Miles, I tried to like you and you know why? Because I'm in love with a man whom I can't have, so I allowed myself to be used by you to try and get over him, and it never worked. I still love Sawyer" she said it with ease, but sadly, and when he touched her skin, she didn't even tingle. He no longer did anything for her, so why carry on with the charade?
"I didn't say you said you didn't give a damn about me, I said you didn't love me, and you don't" she began strong and defiant, "And, I'm not putting words in your mouth and I'm not blaming you for everything bad that has happened to me, but I do agree that you're a creep" she ranted on, "the way you treated me previously confirms that" she finished in rather sour tones, but strong tones as well.

((hence the commas. he-he. Miles waves goodbye to the free ride.)) Blah, blah, blah... respect. Blah, blah, blah... Sawyer... honestly, did she think he cared? "If you're going to admit to being in love with an idiot, at least use his actual name" Miles commented dryly. James Ford. That jerk that punched him because he couldn't handle the truth about his past. He'd say that this woman had bad taste, but then he knew how that would look on him, so he bit his tongue. "I don't think creep is really the right word to describe me" Miles said with amusement, as if this was all a game to him, "maybe... indifferent... maybe not as passionate enough to punch a guy as you'd like" he added refering to Ford again. "But 'creep'... it doesn't really fit."

[ooc: I noticed the commas... Yep he's gotta wave goodbye to the free ride - Leah is starting to feel better about herself]
She sighed and rolled her eyes, did everybody call Sawyer by his real name now? Thing with Leah was when she got introduced to someone by a name, it stuck no matter what else they were known to go by. She knew Sawyer as Sawyer so it was easier to say Sawyer than to say James. She scoffed at Miles.
"Well James then" she replied, "and he's not an idiot, at least not any more than you are" she retaliated. This meeting wasn't going well, but then she hadn't expected it to, none of their meetings had gone well.
"No you're right, creep doesn't fit it" she answered mockingly, "I think bastard suits you more" that's exactly what she thought of him, and she was now beginning to regret getting Miles involved in her ghostly sightings. "Maybe it would just be better if you left, I'm just going to put meeting these guys down to a bad head day" she replied assuming she had just imagined it. Even though he had confirmed another with the ex cop, maybe it was just sheer luck she had the same name as Ana-Lucia from the Island.

((Dang, that sucks. It was fun... while it lasted))
Bastard was a little harsh as well... "I'd like to more go for a realist... just because the world sucks and I can see it more than others is no reason to call me a bastard." Miles said lightly with a smirk.
"And you know what? You can believe what you want to believe, but I know if you told me the name of those ghosts you saw right now that I could call that yahoo Frankie-boy and he'd give me confirmation that they're cancellations too. Which means that maybe they weren't meant to be cancellations. Maybe it's all constructed by Widmore just like that fake wreckage and they were on the plane all along and you were right. Ever think of that?" He scowled. He knew they were onto something right now and she was just going to give up because she thought mistakenly that he was a bastard? Really, she had gotten the wrong idea about him... not that it mattered.
"So com'on Betty, we can work together on this thing."

[ooc: I already said to Dimples I was changing her, I can't go back on it now, it would make me cheap LOL]
"Call yourself what you like Miles" she said in uncaring tones, "I don't care, but to me you're a bastard and always will be, and that's simply because of the way you treated me" she said and looked at the door, trying to give him the impression she wanted him to leave, like she had already asked him to do.
"And you're right, I can believe what I want to believe, this whole thing has given me a ripping headache, and this thing with us isn't helping me either" she rambled in annoyed tones. "First you wouldn't call me by my real name, and now you're calling me Betty?" she questioned anger building again, "Yeah right you give a damn about me, of course you do" she snapped, temper finally broken.
"If you don't start treating me like a human, then you can just go" she smarted. "If you think they're ghosts and you want to look into, be my guest, I gave you their names" she shouted, and then started to feel dizzy as her headache finally got the better of her and she passed out.

((but Miles is just so loveable! Like a pet shark!))
She continued to yell at him and finally passed out on the bed, leaving Miles with a confused expression on his face and a quick retort on his lips that he hadn't had the time to get out. He looked her over, completely gone and laying on the bed and a smirk came on his face again. This was much better. She was much more tolerable when she would just shut the hell up. She really didn't get the point of a nickname either. Betty was a great nickname. He could have called her worse... much worse. Miles reached over and brushed the hair off of her face gently before getting up and taking some peanuts out of the mini-bar section, ripping them open and eating a few as he poked around. After all, he was already there... so there wasn't any point in not snooping around a little.

[ooc: pet shark - yeah right]
Leandra had passed out with her headache, it had taken its toll on her, and all the shouting at Miles hadn't helped it any. After about a half hour of being out of it, she started to stir, assuming that Miles may have left the room by now. She was out of luck however, as she turned weakly around with one eye opened and saw him still there.
Snooping and eating peanuts. She sighed gently and shook her head.
She pushed herself up slowly her eyes smarting, and her head still aching like hell.
"How long was I out for?" she asked Miles softly, because she couldn't shout for fear of it making her feel worse. However she wouldn't apologise, because she had nothing to apologise for.

Miles shrugged and came back over to the bed. "I dunno. Twenty minutes or something. You really get great cable in here. No wonder you want to continue living in a hotel room." He told her flicking the TV back on. He turned his head to survey her and she seemed to be alright.
"So what happened?" He asked, "The after effects of seeing your first ghosts?" He gave her a smile. "You should have seen what happened to me when I first heard ghosts." He was over it now, he had enough time to get used to the way his life had panned out. Even if it sucked. "Feeling better?" He asked again, getting comfortable.

"Yeah that's the reason why I'm still here Miles" she said without any fight in her voice. She couldn't, she didn't have the energy for it. "I've just not managed to make plans with my father to move in with him yet" she continued, "but I will, soon" she finished with a soft smile.
She couldn't think of anything better than to move in with her father, it would be so good to see him again. She hadn't seen him properly since he left Australia to Los Angeles.
"Dunno to be honest" she replied, "Maybe a mixture of the day along with my blood pressure soaring while screaming at you" she said with a little disdain, but smiled anyway. Miles wasn't all bad all the time, but she figured that a relationship would be useless between them. No matter how you painted it, they weren't suited together.
"A little" she replied to the feeling better, as she went into her bag and took another couple of painkillers. What the hell, as long as she never overdosed on the recommended amount she'd be fine.

"I never asked you to scream at me" Miles told her with a smirk, and continued to have his eyes trained on the TV. "Must be nice" he commented idly, "to have a father to move in with." He didn't mean it to gain any sympathy on his own situation. Heck, he didn't care about it anymore. He was old enough to take care of himself now.
He watched her take the painkillers out of the corner of his eye, still staring straight ahead at the TV. "You know, those things will do you more harm than good" he pointed out.
