Charlotte blinked at him for a moment.
"Yeah, I would." She said quietly. "I want to go back, but that's not going to happen." She said, sighing again. "It's why I've been trying to get a hold of Widmore."

This piqued his interest. Widmore. She's been trying to get hold of Widmore. "Have you heard from Frank?" he asked, forming another idea on how they could get back to the island. They could get the original team back together. Daniel had the bearings. Frank had the transports. And he and Charlotte... well... he guessed they would just be along for the ride.

Charlotte let out a soft laugh.
"No. He's either dropped off the face of the earth or he's laying dead in a ditch somewhere." She said. "Or he's done wrecked his helicopter into something." She added. It was probably the truth, though she hated to admit it. Frank was rather a compulsive drunk at times, and she couldn't help but think that he was dead or passed out somewhere because of it.
"Why do you ask? Haven't you talked to him?"

Miles broke out laughing as well, not a big hearty laugh like Frank's, or a soft one like Charlotte's... more of a wry chuckle. "Dead in a ditch..." that was exactly what he'd been thinking after not hearing from him since they arrived back. He shook his head through the laugh. "Me? Nope. Think I'd be the last person he'd want to talk too." Miles said honestly. He had some laughs at Frank's expense on the freighter. He was pretty sure Frank never wanted to see him again after that, not that Miles really gave a damn what Frank wanted.

"What? It's the truth." She smirked.
"If anyone's talked to him, it's Dan. Frank liked him best." Charlotte said. Frank had never really liked her because of her attitude issues and mouth, but she honestly didn't care. Not a lot of people liked her, so she was used to it. "So if we ever find Dan, we can ask him."

"If we ever find Dan..." he processed. She hadn't seen him? "Guess there's no white picket fence then" he answered his own question from earlier that she had avoided. "Didn't really peg you as the type to settle down anyway." He shrugged. No Frank. Was there another option?... he thought about this and then a glance to the fountain answered his question. Ben. Linus was their only hope of getting back to the island. Now he just needed to figure out how to get him to comply.

"I don't plan on settling down, not right now at least. Too much stuff to do still." She said with a shrug.
"But yes, I've been trying to contact Widmore. He isn't returning my calls. I even tried looking up Abbadon, but I can't get him either." She muttered, running a hand through her hair. "It's kinda annoying."

"There is another option" Miles spoke suddenly. Now how was he supposed to tell her to track down the man they were responsible for capturing in the first place? He thought it was a bad idea to even bring it up, but he guessed it was a little too late for that now. "I can think of one other person who might know where the island is and how to get there."

'What?" She questioned, fully curious now. Then it clicked in her mind for a moment.
"If you say Ben Linus, I may have to smack you." She threated, looking over at him. "There is no way in hell I'd go to that man, even if I was extremely desperate."

Miles laughed again. He had to consider himself smacked. His lips turned upwards into another smirk, took a deep breath and said what she didn't want to hear. "Yeah... his name is Benjamin Linus", he recoiled after he said this, waiting for some sort of painful, physical reaction from her.

She wrinkled her nose in disgust.
"Why?" She asked. "Why in the bloody hell would Benjamin Linus help us? He hates us, and wants us dead." Charlotte stated. "If we even tried to approach him, he'd shoot us. Trust me, I've been shot by him. That bullet proof vest you gave me before the chopter went down actually saved my life."

When no painful reaction came, Miles felt almost disappointed. Not that he made it a general habit to be hit by the opposite sex, but any contact with the living was usually good contact considering he spent most of his time conversing with the bodiless.
"Ben likes head games and he hates being lied to. Get him to give us what we want, by giving him something that he wants." Miles thought about this. He was generally pretty good at reading people. He could only think of one thing Ben Linus cared about and that was his daughter's welfare. All they had to do was make Ben believe he was getting something from them, something worthwhile...

Charlotte not regretted not smacking him. Sighing and rubbing her temple, she closed her eyes.
"That man has everything he could possibly want, except for maybe his dead daughter and that Juliet woman." She said. "And I don't see us giving him either, so that's probably not going to work out."

Miles looked confused for a moment. "If his daughter were dead, I'd have something to work with" he told Charlotte. "So..." he smirked, considering his other option, "then how good are you at head games?"
If he was right about the bulletproof vest, he had to be right about this. He knew enough about Ben to know that if they promised him something... maybe something on Widmore... that he would give them what they wanted... but everything always came at a price.

"His daughter is dead. Keamy murdered her." Charlotte stated. "And I'm good at mind games, just nowhere near as good as Linus is." She added, answering his question.
Miles was beginning to worry her slightly now. They couldn't just waltz up to Ben Linus and ask to go back to the island, promising something in return that they might not even be able to get.
"I think it'd be a good idea to get Frank - if he's alive - and Dan - if we can find him - involved with this too."
