Her eyes closed when she felt his fingers at the back of her neck, and as she attempted to think of how long she had actually spent at Oxford. "I think it was about four years so I could earn my Ph.D in Cultural Anthropology." She replied after a moment.
"It could have been longer, but so much stuff has happened between then and now I can barely remember." She continued, her eyes snapping back open. "But I don't think I ever did see you there." She said slowly. "Maybe it was because I never did venture into the physics department...." She trailed off slightly. "But how long did you work at Oxford?"

"I was a professor at Queen's College since 1995. Um, I was one of the youngest professors at Oxford, I...I got a grant to go study at Oxford when I graduated high school. I-I was 16." It had seemed like he had been at Oxford his entire life. "But, um...when they kicked me out I moved back to Massachuchets where I was born and...and they thought I couldn't take care of myself, so um, they had someone live with me. They said my brain was messed up because of the experiments, but um...I don't think it was."

"Wow. So you were there for a while then." She commented quietly. She rolled her eyes slightly as he finished speaking. "Your brain isn't 'messed up'. If anyone's is, it's Miles' with all his 'ghosts' and that nonsense." She stated, smirking at the thought. Charlotte did think Miles was insane, and she didn't honestly believe all that stuff about the ghosts. It was slightly ridiculous. At least Dan's equations and things were probably and scientific. "You should just forget about what the obnoxious idiots at Oxford had to say."

Daniel felt himself smile slightly as she tried to banish away what the officals at Oxford had said. She then spoke of Miles, and his brows narrowed slightly. "Miles, yeah." he said slowly as he continued to try to work out the kinks in her neck. "I don't think Miles likes me much." he paused, and then looked over at Charlotte with a half a smirk. "I don't think Miles likes anyone much." he added after a moment before he frowned slightly. "Do you really think he sees, you know...ghosts? He said Regina was on the boat after she died, but I think he was just being mean. He didn't like Regina either."
Regina's death had confused Daniel and frightened him as well. She had just...walked off the deck of the Freighter to her death.

"Yeah, Miles hates the world and everyone in it." She agreed, his fingers working wonders on her tensed neck. She thought about Regina for a moment when Daniel mentioned her, and if Miles spoke to her.
"I don't honestly know. I mean, I wouldn't think her ghost or soul or whatever would hang around the Freighter. Obviously she wanted away from it or she wouldn't have commited suicide by jumping off with chains strapped to her body." Charlotte said, giving a slight shrug. "But that's just me. I really don't know." Charlotte had never really liked Regina much either, but then again, she had never actually spoken to her that much. Regina had just been a freaky for her taste. She had just steered clear of the woman most of the time.

Daniel winced slightly as Charlotte mentioned how Regina died. Killed herself. "She was nice. I didn't have a problem with her." Daniel said honestly, remembering how he had spoken to Regina at length about his journal, about the payload and about the Island. His fingers had stopped as his mind whurred in thought, until he realised that he was wandering off. He continued to move his fingers, realising that she was starting to relax. There wasn't as much tension in her neck.
"Better?"

"Well, I mean she wasn't exactly that social. I noticed she preferred to stay with her books and stuff instead of coming up on deck alot." Charlotte said, remembering the woman who read books upside down. "I do think it's sort of sad that she killed herself though. but I don't think it was her fault. The same disease or whatever that made Mikowski go insane happened to her too." She continued, then smiled when he asked if her neck was better. Charlotte nodded.
"Thanks."

"You're very welcome."
Daniel moved, his hands back in his lap as he fumbled with the fingers. "She was socal with me." However, Regina had often followed Daniel around deck, but he hadn't really noticed it much or had been bothered. "It wasn't her fault. She didn't seem suicidal to me, so..." he felt himself shrug slightly. "She was the first person that found the bloodstain, too." He remembered Regina frantically calling him over to show him the bloodstain. "Maybe that had something to do with it."
"I'm just glad to get off the Freighter."

Charlotte made a face when he mentioned the bloodstain.
"That thing was just creepy. I don't think I ever found out what caused it either. I only saw it once though, and did my best to steer clear of that room just in case someone decided to make me a bloodstain on the wall too." She muttered, remembering the dark red of the disgusting bloodstain on the wall. Then she nodded again, this time in agreement with Daniel's statement.
"Yeah, being off that Freighter is much better. No more tight squeezes or disgusting Freighter food."

"Someone's blood caused it."
Daniel said it simply, but as he saw her look, he let a small smile flicker onto his face. "I think, um...I think the Captain said it was someone, um...'painting the walls with their brains'." Daniel said, and then made a face. "Yeah, when I think about it, I'm glad I didn't have to stay on the quiet part of the ship." Even if his cabin had been the noisest, full of whurring and screaming metal sounds that kept him wide awake at night. Maybe that's where his sleeplessness had started. But he had never slept much before the Kahana.
"Maybe the blood stain was from someone on the ship before? Maybe they did kill themselves." Daniel said, and then arched an eyebrow at the mention of the food. "I liked my cereal. Did you eat my cereal?"

"Yeah, someone's blood. Just glad it wasn't mine."
Charlotte snorted and nodded. "Yeah, I remember him saying that one. The Captain was on some sort of drugs, I think, because he said some of the most strangest things. Almost as bad as Frank sometimes." She commented lightly. "But the quiet was what I liked the best. Loud noises and sounds get to me, you know?"
Her cheeks grew hot slightly when he asked about the cereal. "Er, yeah, that was me. I liked that cereal better than the rest." She laughed. "Sorry."

"Frank just liked to drink."
Daniel felt a shrug cross his shoulders. "I don't really mind Frank, unless he was drinking. And then I just usually...stayed away." However, when she spoke of the cereal, Dan felt an eyebrow arch at her words. Why hadn't she just asked? All that time he had thought it was Miles eating the cereal, so he had shoved it far back towards the back of the cabnet, thinking that the shorter man couldn't reach it. And then it would be right back to the front, and less full. Then he had thought Keamy, and had almost contemplating leaving it there because the man scared him that much. However, he braved it once more, and death did not come at the hands of the man from Vegas.
"Why didn't you just ask? I would have let you have the box if you wanted it."

"Yeah, he did like to drink. Especially that heavy stuff. I normally don't drink that much either, but I do enjoy a martini or something every once in a while....." She trailed off slightly as she played with the frayed edge on her shirt absentmindedly. She smiled slightly when Daniel spoke again.
"What?" She asked, looking back over at him as she twirled the loose string around her finger. "Did you expect me to burst into your room and wake you up just to ask if I could have a bit of cereal? Even I'm not that rude."

Daniel didn't like to drink. He had drank once in college, and the feeling had made him sick. His mind already swam most of the time, adding to the feeling was like the worst case of motion-sickness he had ever had. "Yeah, I-I uh...I don't like to drink. My mind's already--" he flickered his fingers by his head. "Adding to it doesn't sound...good at all."
When Charlotte said 'what', Daniel's head turned sharply to her, eyes slight wide. Had he said something wrong?! She continued, and his brows narrowed slightly in confusion. "I wouldn't have cared?" he offered slowly. "A-And I didn't sleep much anyway, so it wouldn't have been like you would have been waking me up. A-Alerting me. You would have been...alerting me. A-And even then, I wouldn't have cared. It would have been nice."

Charlotte shrugged slightly.
"Well, I'm sorry then." She apologized. "And you're right, I probably should have asked, but I thought you would be asleep, and I didn't want to you wake up earlier than you had to." She said quietly, looking back at him.
She smiled slightly.
"Next time I want some of your cereal, I'll make sure to ask." She offered.
